i literally had a speedrun writing this, i keep getting kicked out of the site every 5-15 minutes and then can’t join back

Context:

I’m pretty sure a lot of people hate how solid magics are made - they appear with these cool VFX and some structures… orrrr… something else… And then, the built structures of metal, ice, crystals whatsoever just shrink and fall into the abyss! Like, no special effects at all!

They just appear, show their majestic look and then disappear without any cool effects.

Sometimes it just looks ugly and i always wanted the solid magics VFX to be updated in general.

Proposal:

For this, it’d be better if instead of falling down into the abyss of unknown they would simply shatter! I’ll do the examples on Crystal Magic because it’s just the coolest solid magic ever :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

When you use Explosion spell, a giant crystal mine appears - seems normal. But after that, instead of just disappearing into the ground - it will shatter to pieces, exploding and scattering into smaller crystals which only then will fall ON THE GROUND and then slowly disappear. Some of these crystals could start glowing before the explosion - which further enforces the fact that there’s a force, causing the crystals to shatter.

Same thing will happen with any spell or skill that will create the crystal structures - Especially the Beam spell, where it summons a crystal spike (or something else, i associate it with a spike) and then makes it shatter - instead of the usual falling which makes no cool effect.

General:

Generally, i think it will make the solid magics more fun to use VFX-wise, or perhaps even satisfying. There will be no more ugly falling of the structures you created - they will shatter to pieces with much cooler look!

i agree within reason, itd be better if the lingering solid magic exploded or broke off instead of staying the same size and clipping down…
but splitting in tiny pieces that linger on the ground, with some level of physics, for every attack, that doesn’t sound good. would be simpler if it was 2d particles i guess.

I love this idea, the one problem I can see with it is it being laggy, so if it was to be implemented maybe a setting for it to appear as either 3d or 2d to your player.

Yeah, big structures shattering into multiple smaller pieces with additional VFX added to it - if paired with Metal or Crystal could just be a substitute Ash that sends a tactical nuke to your FPS

2D? You mean, like, some sort of images that always look towards the players camera?

i actually start to think vetex should add a new function to all solid magics that allows to manipulate the created structures

like making them either shatter or vanish silently, and stuff

or, for example, on Ice magic, the structures would melt to water puddles
