Reasoning

Since sunken swords got their watery-ness from soaking for hundreds of years, I think it’d only make sense for a weapon made of arcanium to have gained an affinity for the earth or other minerals (metal, crystal) if it’s been buried underground for hundreds of years. Additionally, I believe that any chart that hasn’t been found in hundreds of years (or is suspected to have arcanium loot) is bound to have risen to legendary status (and is legendarily convoluted/difficult to find).

Given that sunken weapons are “sunken”, such weapons obtained from charts would have prefixes like “buried” or “earthen”

The weapons in question

Arcanium Stalagmite: A club weapon (and, optionally, a strength weapon)
A large chunk of arcanium originally destined to be refined into a weapon, but was stolen and buried by a pirate hundreds of years ago, where its properties changed. Rocks form on its surface and periodically split off.

Abilities:

  • Tectonic Split

    • Analogous to Raging Impact. Generally the same, but the impact causes stone projectiles (which are really just stone blasts) to fly out in multiple directions. These projectiles have gravity, rather than flying forever. They will explode on contact with a player or any surface.
  • Brutal Rush

    • Same as Club’s brutal rush, with some aesthetic stone effects

(note that this moveset and its names can also work for an arcanium hammer or mace)

Shimmering Shield
A slab of arcanium intended for use in creating weapons. However, it got stolen during the shipment process and fashioned into an improvised shield. It has been buried in the ground for hundreds of years, causing its properties to change. Its surface is rough and uneven, and made of hard crystal.

Abilities:

  • Block

    • Can be changed in a multitude of ways, or kept as-is. Abnormally high amount of damage absorption, highly inaccurate projectile reflection on a successful parry, etc.
    • Normal projectile reflection on block sounds particularly infuriating, so some limitations like random projectile spread and specifically on a parry seem like good balancing
  • Concussive Reverb (or something to do with crystal seeds or how sparkly crystals are, depending on which special gimmick this move gets)

    • Can have one of a number of special abilities:
      • A frankly insane projectile speed increase, being thrown and coming back to the user incredibly quickly. (this would warrant the sparkly crystal-based name)
      • Create a large crystal explosion on hit (this would warrant the crystal seed-based name)
      • On hit, cause the targets vision to blur for 2 seconds and force them to walk instead of run for half a second. Maybe add an auditory humming sound to further disorient players, that persists for 4 seconds.
  • Shield Bash

    • Same as other shield’s shield bash, maybe add a subtle glass shattering sound to each hit.

I’m not too concerned with other abilities at the moment, since, like the future sunken abilities, they won’t be in the game for a while. I’ll let vetex and/or the comment section brainstorm what other abilities these weapons could have.

Doesn’t that mainly have to do with the magic pollution in the water? Not to say this isn’t a neat idea but unless rocks and what not have trace amounts of magic energy then I don’t see it happening

The water does seem like a good conduit for magic pollution. I think, perhaps through rain, this magic pollution could then seep into the ground. Even as the water evaporates or goes elsewhere, some of the pollution, perhaps, is absorbed by the ground much like a coffee filter.

hear me out.
if being buried in certain locations is literally changing the stats of equipment, I think there’s magic involved.

Yes yes yes, I need this.
Millions must do treasure charts.

well we can mostly guarantee akursies (i voted i never rate though)

This could potentially be really cool and add a ton of variety, but could also be incredibly bullshit and be awful for the game and its economy

Additionally you could have a weapon or two per treasure chart modifier(maybe not blasted)

When he said legendary chart I got scared and I thought it was the legendary charts from arcane reborn

I forgot AO had legendary charts

anyways yep.

Back by unpopular demand: AA Legendary Charts

More arcanium type weapons is a yes

Now I just a want a strength weapon of this type

the salt in the sea is the magic polluted thing iirc

love these! can’t wait to go full caveman mode by bonking people with the stalagmite if it ever gets added lmao

What economy?

I suppose it could also find its way inland through waves crashing into islands? I cant think of a good consistent way to address that, other than just making up that Arcane Odyssey takes place in a universe where certain fundamental chemical interactions and laws of reality are different
