Ancient Dragons Are Not Fun To Fight (semi rant)

yeah it was inevitable that i make this. title thread name goes here, they just are NOT.

you need to sail to insanity 4 if you want to guarantee them spawning which can take you at least an hour to get to plus. later down the line i pray to god that vetex adds some kind of system that lets you fast travel to certain ranges of the dark sea. one idea i have is a Dark Sea Slipstream that you can get on a fully max navigator that lets you instantly travel to the far reaches but im not here to make a suggestion. its even harder with a group because people will 100% fall off the boat when they try to clear water poisoning. and when you do actually get there your boat can only go to about 3-5 dragon islands before sucumbing to the dark sea because of waves hitting your boat while you spend upward of 15+ minutes fighting a dragon. what REALLY sucks is corroding and burning waves, there is no reason why these waves should do 3k damage to your ship. its downright nefarious. and the LAG. THE LAGGGG its just horrendous and it honestly makes me think to myself “did any of the testers even test I4 or do they all just have nasa computers???” no shade to any testers of course. but the performance of this game is really starting to make me not like it. and if you are curious about what i am using to play this game i am using a ROG Zephyrus G14 yes gaming laptop boo boo shame me i know but why am i getting 30 fps max in this game when i can easily run triple A games like cyberpunk at 60+ fps constatlyone thing that is worthy of mention is why isnt the far reaches a seperate instance? by the time you are in I4 roblox literally begins to break down like a nature valley bar because of something called “Floating Point Precision Errors” its in literally almost every game and if you dont know what im talking about by now its when your character or other models begin to have distorted or warped textures. LIKE CAN WE PLEASE MAKE THE FAR REACHES A SEPERATE INSTANCE SO THIS DOESNT HAPPEN? yes it does happen in I2 but its not as bad as it is in I4. speaking of lag, its bad enough while you are that deep in insanity. ITS EVEN WORSE AGAINST AN ANCIENT DRAGON. i remember i encountered a diamond ancient dragon right, im not sure if it was a bug or something intentional but it constantly used the meteor spell and BECAUSE OF THAT ME AND MY SQUAD HAD OUR GAME TURNED INTO A POWERPOINT PRESENTATION. dragons, especially ones in higher insanities would be way easier and fun to fight if they werent so god damn laggy. another thing that i will mention is the strafing attack. (the one where they shoot magic blasts at you while in the air) it feels impossible to dodge on high tier dragons because of the blast AOE. im not complaining about the damage im complaining about how they are impossible to dodge or parry consecutively. how will we dodge them even when we are the actual appropriate level to fight them? as far as i know your dash distance doesnt go further when you get a higher level. and now for the one thing that vetex will always defend. ATTACK DESTRUCTION. dont get me wrong i love this feature but oh my god this update it has been really getting on my nerves, why are there just big giant cracks that i can fall through on dragon cliffs and how come i get stuck under a small thin sheet of grass when the floor beneath it is caved in completely.

TLDR; let me fast travel to certain dark sea ranges i hate how laggy this game is and make far reaches instanced so my game isnt breaking down into polygons

That’s why I really want chapter 10, a new boat (assuming it’s faster and not heavier), and eventually better speed items…

you’ll never guess what the update is centered around + im not complaining about the difficulty their just annoying to get to and not fun to fight due to lag and performance issues

This is a fact and completely acceptable and justifiable. I can’t use ray because my game freezes, but Vetex said he doesn’t know what to do without a Roblox engineer. Just to clarify, the update is good, but playing it isn’t fun for many precisely because of this: lag. I never had problems with lag, but this update definitely caught me off guard.

im 100% willing to bet my soul and life that the reason why the entire game is so laggy is because of attack destruction and breakable parts solely just existing

Yes, I think a good indication of that is destroying the entrance gate to Fort Montu. Calculating physics requires a lot of server processing, which usually results in poor performance… I like terrain destruction, but that could be true.

my only gripe with dragons is that all of the other attacks are a complete joke if you have a working brain, while the blasts are basically garanteed death if you don’t have something to block them

When me and some friends did a dragon hunt I noticed my clearsight pot was literally like a hexagon LOL the dark seats floating point error is really rough

speaking of this laggy abomination i remember on full release i literally went from 90 FPS when i was destroying it and then when i set foot on it i instantly went to 30 fps

I usualy play with 24 fps, on forte montu it can turn into 5 fps

if you asked me to summarize this update into 4 words i would say
“Oops, All Memory Leaks!”

arcane odyssey is unplayable and vetex can’t do anything about it

what if instead of having testers play in 5 player servers vetex made them all play in one big server so they know what actual gameplay is like

he probably knows about it but as he himself said, there’s nothing he can do about that but refuse to remove terrain destruction or make it optional

I’m sorry little one…

making it an instanced place would be one of the best ways to deal with it

would also be nice if (depending on the ships speed and how long you sail for) you then gain the option to enter the next range in another instanced area

(Imagine the actual epicenter itself if these issues do not get addressed when we have things spawning there)

it does…by like 0.1% every level
so +60% dash distance increase at level 600
pretty sure it applies to high jump height as well
