Arcane Adventures: Book 2: Chapter XXXVI

A few minutes later, 5 minutes off Altavista

~William’s Perspective~

I feel numb as I cut through the Emerald Skull Pirates. A coldness settles in as I cut the throat of another pirate.

I was fighting a squad of pirates that had somehow gotten on the Delta earlier when an aura shot sent me to the ground. I got on my back and saw someone who was presumably a captain running at me, brandishing their sword. Then, a member of the Rebel 25 came and stabbed their chest. He looked at me and held his hand out to me.

At that exact moment, a bullet went through the side of his head.

It was so fast. I remember lying there, stunned, before Arianna grabbed me and dragged me to cover.

The 2 main fleets met in battle. Me, Pax, and Landon separated to cover more ground. They could be dead.

No, I thought. Don’t think about that. Focus on surviving the chaos RIGHT NOW!

I jump onto another ship, creating a shockwave of aura on landing by putting my sword on the deck. I pull the sword out and whip out my flintlock, shooting a pirate before jumping into cover. Bullets fly at where I was.

Shit. I was too reckless.

Fwoom!

Someone weaves through the masts of the fighting ships, shooting blasts of fire at any ship with the Emerald Skull Pirates logo. They take out the ones on the ship I’m on and grab my arm.

“Wassup dumbass,” Avery says. “You want Caleb’s sacrifice to be in vain?”

He flies me to the Delta. Pax is there with Landon, who’s on a stretcher being taken care of by Pollux. Avery puts me down and flies away. Pax looks up at me.

“I don’t know what-” he begins.

“I know,” I interrupt. “Don’t beat yourself up.” I look at Pollux. “Will he be ok?”

“Dunno,” he says. “The wounds are pretty severe. Safe to say he’s gonna be out for the rest of the battle.” He turns to a crewmember. “Arch! Help me get him below deck!”

I look at Pax. He looks horrible.

“What have you been doing?” I ask

“I may or may not have used the spirit weapon a lot,” he replies.

The crewmember runs over and grabs the side of the stretcher opposite of Pollux and helps carry it to the stairway leading below deck.

“Everyone take cover!” someone yells.

Me and Pax look up in confusion. A person flies at us, using a flight spell to fly at us with breakneck speed. They begin to glow with green-blue electricity.

“Shit,” Pax swears. He grabs me and uses a leap spell to propel us behind some cargo boxes. He runs back out and begins to create a wall of light blue spirit energy.

The person blitzes at Pax’s shield and hits it with a loud explosion, sending Pax flying backwards. He lands on the deck with a groan. I run over to him. He’s unconscious but breathing.

A blond haired woman lands onto the ground on one knee. The crew surrounds her, weapons out, as she slowly gets up. Her eyes gleam with murder as she looks around.

“Sage,” Castor says with pure venom in his voice.
