Ask an American

  1. The military uh… it does stuff. Every country has one so it’s basically inevitable. Culture here is pretty diffuse.
  2. I don’t know. All of them have their downsides.
  3. Not gonna answer that. I said it once but I removed that information from this forum.
  4. They’re people. Less social interaction.

that’s fair, I only asked cus states are pretty big so I didn’t think it’d be too personal

Depends

If we’re doing math with whatever we’re doing (ie add half the amount of x to y) we use metric typically

If everything is staying about the same scale (like get 4ft of string) then we use imperial

It’s actually a lot closer to Canada than most people think, just in reverse where we randomly use metric for some things rather than randomly using imperial for some things

The UK is not innocent with this sort of thing (what the hell is a STONE) either, I just wouldn’t personally decide to touch them with a 3.048 metre pole.

Yes, I use the car to go everywhere outside of my home. there is nowhere, at least where I live, that I can walk to places. Admittedly I live in a rather rural area and not in a neighborhood like most people

as for houses, those look like apartments but those are usually only in cities

idk about military culture but we generally honor and respect our soldiers

they’re either quiet and isolated or loudmouthed assholes

in my experience a lot of americans see it as weird if you randomly just talk to people or say hi

there’s also a general disdain for children here
people do not like being near them

spineless parents refusing to parent their brat of a child who’s hooting and hollering in a big box store is a big contributor to this

  4. low-key awful lol

We have lower standards

I have some friends that went to Belgium and they said all the fast food was way better there lol

give me all your microplastics. our froot loops must contain artificial food dyes lest our children believe the earth is round

its so trash bro

brits go on about how their weather sucks but british weather is a joke compared to what the gators have to deal with

its incredibly hot here during the summer
and I’m not just talking about the southwest or anything which is basically just satan’s asshole

even in the more moderate climate in the east it can get up to like 100 degrees on a bad day

we also get tornadoes, hurricanes and other delightful forces of nature

this image is immediately what I thought of
My state weather the best forsure tho

I remember trying once these or something similar, basically colorful rings and some marshmellows added as well. It tasted vile.

Is it true that guns are less likely to be homeless and are far more likely to get job opportunities and be respected when compared to people?

Also are women’s rights generally worse in America compared to other countries? (Mainly thinking about laws that punish natural stuff like miscarriage, and the choice for abortion being criminalised, which I view as being a right that women are entitled to, since I’d rather give the mother a better chance at survival compared to giving a foetus that isn’t even born yet a chance)

(Also if any of my questions are insensitive please tell me and I’ll edit them out of the post, since I generally can’t tell if some questions I ask are insensitive or not.)

Ny is the best state and if you disagree you are wrooooooong

Depends on where you are, the main things you hear about like with abortion arent crises over the government outlawing them, but are instead crises over the government letting states decide for themselves. While this isnt GOOD, it means that most of the time if theres some rights bullshit you can just drive to the next state over and do it there (note: the main use of this is stoners going to smoke weed)

There is literally no alternative in most of the US. There are three possibilities:

  1. The store is too far, as you live rurally, away from literally everything.
  2. It is unsafe or impractical to try and walk or bicycle to the store, as the roads have few sidewalks.
  3. The limits of walking results in driving being just as fast if not faster anyways.

My qualifications for these statements? Having lived in 5 US states and visited 3-4 more.

You should probably also explain what AP classes are since I’m pretty sure they don’t have those outside of the US.

a 10 minute drive can be a 2 hour walk in some places

How close do you live to the store?

Certainly if you’re at an art college.

Theres a company called collegeboard which essentially is a monopoly with a stranglehold over the school system, it essentially makes public schools pay to have access to high quality (ap (advanced placement)) curriculums because those are the only ones colleges accept. Its bullshit and is unanimously hated but wwre gonna have to wait till the old people in charge retire to get it out

depends on the state. california or new york you probably would, but somewhere like alabama or georgia would be rarer
