Do you like Atlanteans? I’ve got bad news: Atlanteans don’t like you.
Features
Every so often, perhaps even just once or twice during a server’s runtime, an event will occur in which several Atlantean ships will pour out of the Dark Sea and start attacking anyone they come across. (except other Atlanteans)
This could also be a global thing, where the event occurs after a set time interval, and the most recent server it occurred in will be displayed during that time interval.
The event “ends” as soon as it begins. Over a period of a few minutes, a certain amount of Atlantean ships (anywhere between 5-20, but that might be too high) will spawn and enter the Bronze Sea (and Nimbus Sea, eventually). No more Atlantean ships will spawn after this.
It would be highly disappointing if Atlantean ship invasions get all this hype just for them to despawn after a while. As a result, I recommend either increasing the despawn timer on these invaders specifically, or making them unable to despawn until they are destroyed.
This can cause some interesting lag issues, so I don’t recommend it too strongly. An alternative or clever code fiddling would be preferred to what feels like “brute forcing” it.
The average strength of each ship will depend on what sea the event takes place in, varying between the tier below and the tier above that maximum. For example, the average Atlantean ship in the Bronze sea could be Reinforced, with the tier ranging from normal to Fortified.
It’s probably entirely possible for later seas to still get lower-tier ships, like normal ships, but it will be significantly less likely the further you go.
Would it be reasonable for Atlanteans to dock near players and just suddenly go after them, like the navy does sometimes?
Reasoning
This is mainly brainstorming for what new and wacky things could break a player’s routine in-game. It’s also a nice way to DoorDash dark sealed chests right to your front door.
It would also be a little funny to see what new players do when a Fortified Atlantean Brig suddenly learns of their current location.
Damn, I thought we was homies. But seriously, this is a rather neat way to spice up the day to day gameplay and give the server a reason to interact with each other. (Or maybe not, and one dude just solos every Atlantean ship)
i dont really have an issue wih the event itself, but atlanteans would literally die by going to the bronze sea so i dont see why they would. they are basically animals
As much as the high-level players would enjoy this event, there was little consideration towards the low-level players who are still doing the storyline. Maybe this comment will fall off as soon as the later seas are released, but it’s still a generally a bad idea.
If possible, maybe just make this a result of running away from many fights in the dark sea (?)
How about this: the Atlanteans won’t lock onto low-level players and won’t follow them if the players attack and run. This way, newbies can just ignore them, or, if they accidentally hit one, they can run.
