Welcome to another episode of my dumbass trying to come up with a fighting style concept only to be laughed out of the comedy club. This is episode three and my contribution this time is Barbaric Palms.

SO, what is it?

How It Works

Barbaric Palms is a fighting style revolving around your health and brute force. This fighting style deals hella damage with a lot of drawbacks to balance it out.
The fs also deals more damage to blocking opponents (with the blocking damage reduction).
If you have 100-51% Health:
Your stats will be as follows
1.15x Damage
.75x Speed
.5x Size

If your Health is 50%-26%
1.15x Damage
.75x Speed
.75x Size

If your health is 1%-25%
.8x Damage
.75x Speed
1.15x Size

Status Effects

You will have a self status-effect and your opponent will get one as well if you deal a certain amount of damage within x amount of time (which is hard seeing as how the speed is way-below average).
Bruised:
Standard bruised status effect that already exists.
Last Resort:
This will occur when your health is under 25%. Your health regeneration speed will be accelerated greatly until you are at least at 35% health. If you can’t get that back… good luck I guess?

Pros and Cons

Obviously this style is going to be sort of iffy so I’m just here to plainly state the differences between the good and bad parts of it.

  • Pretty cool status effects (if I say so myself)

  • Must be low health to get attack size
  • Reduced Blocking Resistance

Can you explain your reasoning for the poll responses?

maybe turn the stats around, where it does more damage the lower your hp is instead of how high your hp is.
also 0.3x size is insanely small
also also 1.3x damage is way too high 1.05x seems like a better choice ( since that’s the current highest multiplier)
also stamina regen is kinda mid, you don’t really run out of it that much as long as you’re not just spamming dash and high jump. it would be better if it was a small regen boost, so it would push you out of the 25% and under range

maybe change the shattered to bruised, since that would make more sense considering it’s a status (my character’s bones completely heal in 5 seconds because they drink so much malk)

these changes would make it a bit more of a strong at low health but with low aoe and weaker at high health but high aoe and at low health you get a healing boost, which will try to push you out of the high damage but very vulnerable phase. This would incentivise to try to get to as low hp as possible while also focussing on negating as much damage as possible while you’re at your strongest.
that would also make the style synergise with drawback.
You basically become Carina when you use this, but at 1/4 hp instead of 1/2

I would kill myself with 0.5x size

very fun and synergises with drawback, the only thing I could MAYBE see happen is it being too strong with drawback, but then again, you will still take mega damage. overall good suggestion, cook again.

I mean I would love a FStyle that eg: goes from x0.8 attack to x1.8 attack as your health lowers (you get the x1.8 at 5% hp) but it kinda scales inbetween so at 55% you are getting x1.3 dammage

what does bruised do

I like the idea, however, 8x damage AND regen under 25% hp as part of a selected fighting style could be problematic for vitality builds, and hybrid builds. Lady Carina is already annoying enough to fight, and they only regen 7hp/second. Someone is going to figure out how to exploit it. Some loser with as much vitality as possible and fully tanked out sunken gear, amulets, healing potions, like regen ZXXVI from food, ect. ect. could take forever to kill, even if they’re afk.

That said, I love this extensively, and it promotes a great risk vs. reward system, and it might even encourage some of the most confident players to drink damaging vials so that they do more damage, and I am jumping up and down out of excitement from just the thought of limiting yourself to like 150 hp to do more damage. Honestly, that alone is an amazing concept.

One thing I would add to this is something about the vitality stat. Regen as a passive ability is dangerous, and some people might go savant and get the bare minimum for obtaining the style, exclusively to get the passive regeneration.

Since Vitality passively decreses damage, what if with this style, every point in vitality increases damage or smth? It could also have a few other positive impacts—maybe attack speed, skill recharge rate, possibly even the regen rate under 25% health, or increase the threshold for passive regen.

I would also decrease the damage multiplier a bit. 8x sounds awesome, but damage calculation is a complicated process, and depending on where the multiplier goes (I literally have no clue where it goes) it could result in a fight ending as soon as the player drinks 2 damaging vials, followed by a single m1 doing like 600 dmg. Maybe 3x would be a better option.

In terms of moves, I think it’d be kind of a neat idea to replace the aura (or like the beast instinct or whatever it is for fighting styles, idk I’m a pure mage main) with an ability that costs a lot of energy (not stamina obv) and has like a 2 or 3 minute recharge time that’s just a heal. I know it’s unbalanced, but hear me out. It’s not instant, but it’s not regen. You’ll start to regen hp, but if you get hit once while gaining health, the regen cancels immediately. You’ll still have whatever health you gained. The regen won’t continue until full health either. I’m thinking maybe 1% hp for 20 seconds or so, so it’s a gamble in that regard. This ability might also help with regrowing lost limbs or smth??? I don’t know, I lost a limb once with a legendary chart but couldn’t hold a shovel because I lost my arm and I’m angy about it.

That’s all, I suppose.
