Alright, you know this cutscene whit Tiberia’s kidnappers holding mayor Tilly as hostage. Legionnaire that was tasked with liberation of mayor Tilly gets report of Fort Talos getting destroyed, and he jumps to assumption that Keraxe are ones responsible for destruction. Why would he, somewhat of army higher up get such conclusion? Keraxe were forced to be peaceful by treaty, and also wasn’t Thorne more likely to do such thing since they hold some sort of a grudge against Ravenna. I mean this cutscene, mere line in fact, maybe has no significance or hidden meaning, and I’m trying to find some meaning that wasn’t intended to even be there. Like…it’s possible devs just decided to put Keraxe out of the blue.
I think this is more so the soldier jumping to the first possibility in panic, knowing Keraxe to be warmongerers etc.
More importantly, why are these supposedly trained soldiers all turning to look at the messenger when they have an active hostage situation on their hands? The kidnappers could have used the opportunity to attack them from behind, or even just run for it.
There are multiple issues with this scene, but in my opinion your complaint is a bit unjustified.
Making a peace treaty, especially with a kingdom known for warmongering and conquest comprised of the strongest navy in the world, as well as 4 dangerous curse users, doesn’t gurantee that they would never attack. I’m sure there is always the risk or concern (even if not exactly founded) that Keraxe could one day just ignore whatever agreement they had and attack.
Additionally, the Legionnaire seemed to just jump to conclusion immediately since news of one of Ravenna’s most essential forts being raided was not something anyone would immediately expect, especially in the midst of Mayor Tilly being kidnapped. I feel as if its a normal human trait to assume the answer instantly, and even so the Legionnaire was merely asking, not necessarily stating for it to be the only possiblity.
I’d argue the Thorne Empire would be less likely than Keraxe since Ravenna had successfully repelled the Thorne from Cassia Town (even if King Caesar had died along side the other generals). Plus they are 3-4 seas south so the amount of logistics required to invade Ravenna again would be extremely complicated.
Considering Keraxe attacked just a few months after this scene despite the peace agreement, were they really wrong to guess Keraxe might be responsible?
You’re forgetting a tiny detail: by then, it was pretty much widespread news that Ravenna’s main fortress got wrecked, alongside many of their troops, as well as lost its king
Well that didn’t stop them from sailing a huge war fleet with their top command, including the heir to the throne, through at least 2 seas dominated by 2 powerful kingdoms, at least one of which is very warmongering
All the more reason to completely destroy Keraxe and displace their entire population across the war seas because I hate those stupid fucking viking bums who NEVER DROP ANYTHING GOOD
