Changes To Construct

Construct right now just feels really weird considering it lacks purposeful mobility for mages. Right now its only use is to be a better leap using only the tower option but I’d like to give more uses to it.

Construct Changes

  • Rather than having “charged” and “uncharged” options, it should be separated into “ground” and “air” options with each having different variants.

  • With this, you aren’t forced to charge just to change the style of your creation and pretty much makes it so that you can charge what you want to make them bigger.

Ground Options

Tower - Raise yourself from the ground by making a tower that brings people within range along with you high from the ground.

Cage - Create a wide cage that traps people below you in exchange for a bit of height distance. The bars should extend downward until it reaches the void so that it seals the whole area if used around uneven terrain.

Spike - Conjure a spike below your feet which moves only yourself in a diagonal line to the general direction of where you’re aiming. This will deal 15% of your base damage and knockback if used close to an enemy.

Stalagmites - Raise spikes from the ground in a wide area that increases fall damage by 20%. Will deal 15% of your base damage if an enemy is around upon creation.

Air Options

Monolith - Create a pillar below you and then stand on it as you fall which sticks to the ground for a while upon contact with the ground. Fall damage is reduced by 75% when using this and you cannot move until it gets in contact with the ground.

Sphere - Encase yourself in a sphere as you fall and deal knockback depending on the severity of your fall damage to those around upon contact with the ground, this can be increased by the attack knockback jewel effect. You cannot move until it gets in contact with the ground.

Bridge - Make a path below you in a diagonal line. Multiply the distance by 10 when fully charged.

Stalactites - Conjure spikes around you which falls to the ground and deal 15% of your base damage. Works similar to spirit rain except the range doesn’t increase based on height.

I’m fairly certain that Construct is supposed to be a pure-support spell, and I feel it doesn’t make sense for it to have the ability to deal damage.

Although, having “Ground” and “Air” options instead of “Charged” and “Uncharged” variants is a much needed change.

Yeah, pretty much why the damage is low percentage based which is equivalent to a single tick of a medium to high status effect damage. It’s more so that construct can have a use for proccing status effect based magic such as light, crystal, and any catalyst-synergy magics.

Construct should be the flexible spell as it’s alluded to be in terms of controlling the area. Right now what’s the point of other structures when the only useful thing is cage for any high size magic or tower for any high speed magic.

Also pretty much the variants are similar to each other in nature, such as spike being a quick movement forward diagonally while bridge being a path down diagonally where unlike spike, it has more range downward. The cage being for trapping others and sphere for trapping yourself to increase the weight of fall damage, dealing high knockback. Tower to get yourself above ground fast while monolith is used to lessen the fall damage by having the magic take most of the impact. Stalagmites to punish air stalling the moment the fall while stalactites is used to proc status effects in a wide area for synergy.
