[CONCEPT] Opposite of Magic Council Group

IDEA

I was thinking, since some players are in dark guilds and are only aided by other dark players while the positive players have the magic council on their side, we should have a DARK Council!

WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT

This is important because it will give the dark players a safe place for them to retreat to or just hang out and quest. Then, the positive players also have new opportunity to plan raids and fight a, Dark Council Captain? It is incredibly boring to sit in jail for more than 10 minutes after doing a silent tower raid, just for exp. Lastly, isn’t this game about balance? Good seems to be VERY dominant, right now. But, shouldn’t the dark always come back? Yin and Yang?

KEY POINTS (SUMMARY)

  • Have a Dark Magic Council for the dark players
  • More opportunity for raids that positive players can do
  • Have more balance of good and evil
  • Safe place for dark players

I dont want to sound like i am shutting your concept down but a lot of other people have already said similar stuff to this.

actually there is one! as a dark wizard you can talk to dark wizard npc and they will tell have a chance you about the “dark arts society” which is the most powerful dark guild!

On the trello one of the future quests ideas are specific cultures opposing the council so thats kinda similar to what you are looking for.

I wouldn’t call it a “Dark council” possibly call it “The rebellion” or “Revolutionaries” (Inspired by the revolutionary army from one piece.)

Being evil in this game is supposed to be hard and meant for players who can handle being in a constant battle basically

Maybe it can be a rebellion that fights the magic council for innovative or/and inventive freedom and the unification of magic and non-magic users. They 're probably the only group that sell firearms in a high price since the Magic council probably outlawed them. They would even have a few inventions that are declared illegal from the Magic council such as steam-power and firearms. The rebellion would basically fight for a more innovative and a more united society for Magius.

Although I understand why a “dark council” npc faction would seem helpful to new dark players or be interesting as far as lore is concerned, there are a few logical considerations that would complicate an bad rep npc faction, such as what attracts members and holds them together. Whether it be with good or bad intent, the Magic Council promises to be the force of law in the world of Magius. The appeal is simple: we are good people protecting those who cannot protect themselves from the bad people. What would bring a dark council together? While the good guys are usually motivated towards the same actions of protecting people, the bad are motivated to do different things in different ways which makes banding together under one flag problematic. That is likely why, from a human standpoint, that dark player guilds will take prominence for supporting dark players while light players can benefit from uniform law and order, and an authority figure to enforce it. Although a league of evil to support the dark players mechanically is a nice idea, in a game as lore heavy as WoM seems to be working towards, from a worldbuilding standpoint everyone has their own reasons for straying from order, and finding a large enough group of people to stand together to support all evildoing that would feasibly make sense is impractical. Unless the Magic council is actually evil, in which case a rebellion faction could stand against them. But in that case the magic council is the dark faction, not the light one, and as such a major world changing update would have to occur and I just don’t see that happening.

TL;DR - Mechanically, could be fun. But in world it just doesn’t work too well imo.

Are the bandits literally the opposite of the magic council

theres nothing unique to bad rep if its just two sides of the same coin

also, the magic council would just crush an organization like this, the MC has curse users/some of the most powerful wizards alive
