It still functions as a battle with no extremely unfair shit like flowey or smth (unavoidable 1 hits), but it’s not turn based like in actual undertale, so calvus is just like in game without reign for example
so they still have to be dodgeable but arn’t hindered

I don’t think calvus would accept the mercy anyway, most players didn’t abort genocide out of the goodness of their heart, they did it to see what happened, but calvus isn’t doing this to see what happens, so he wouldn’t accept the mercy, but instead still attack

also brings up an interesting point; a ghost’s body can take physical damage despite their innate immortality (seen with Ruins Dummy and Mad Mew Mew when their head is sliced off despite them being just fine) (i think. idk i didn’t play Switch and haven’t seen much gameplay)

like, their bodies they take form in can be injured but it won’t effect their mortality, and they can “feel” pain but it doesn’t actually happen? if that makes sense?
i’m not sure cause there’s never any indication he actually takes “damage” i don’t think (maybe if you check his healthbar), just that he hurts from it and Napstablook tells him off.

Calvus does NOT have the hand-eye coordination to deal with the spiraly ones. and i KNOW he doesn’t know the pixel-perfect trick during the spear rise attacks
yeah you get a green spear or shield and use it defensively (right? i don’t know if the shield has a canonical explanation. does undyne give us a spear or do we create one?)
