when the game progresses more, some evil npcs (perhaps tied to the timid personalities) should be able to sense or feel your energy and become terrified, running away. sort of similar to the “you sense a huge amount of magic energy nearby” feature on the trello. i think it’d be pretty neat as it shines some character onto the evil npcs without you actually having to give up your reputation. some examples for dialogue would be
“This isn’t worth the trouble… I’m outta here!”
“W-Woah… This power is unreal… Forget this!”
“Grr… I have to retreat or Im gonna die here…”
Alternatively, another cool feature would be infamy. Maybe if you featured in the news countless times, are in a powerful light guild, or some other hurdle, they will notice you and do the same thing. Dialogue examples would be
“Darn, it’s [Playername]… I was just about to finish my master plan… Better get out while I still can.”
“It’s one of the members of [guildname]! I have to get out of here!”
“Look! I’ll leave in peace! Don’t attack!”
If evil towns are created, maybe bounty posters for heroes could be created to go along with it? Just an idea, let me know what you think!
Sounds pretty cool actually, would make it feel more rewarding as a powerful player and it would be cool to maybe have small areas in big towns (like citrine) that were evil and where dark reps could hide out at.
I actually really like this idea. It’d stop high level players from nuking all the low level NPCs too. You should post it in #suggestions once you’re trust level 2.
Pretty cool idea to have, this makes it so the lower level NPCs run away then the low level players may have higher chance to fight them normally. Atleast post it in #suggestions as Anne said so when you have that trust level.
This would be really cool. It might get annoying however if for some reason you lose rep and wanna get it back really quick without doing a quest but all the NPCs are running away from you. Not a huge problem just a really minor one but other that that this would be a really good addition to the game.
also wow, i didn’t expect this to blow up that quickly, thanks everyone! glad you liked it, i’ll definitely post a remastered version in suggestions when i get trust level 2. hopefully no one steals it in the meantime. i’ll make it look a little more professional and polished, etc.
I think that should be an idea. But those events only play according to the players Reputation. For instance i’m a Hero with a 1k+ reputation. If I were to go to a bandit camp. Maybe few could easily surrender. Overall, love the idea.
This is actually CRITICALLY important for game balance:
Currently, even the most ineffectual level 10 mages will confidently attack maxed players. This means that it is ALWAYS more beneficial to kill any hostile NPC enroute to where you are going. As a result, the low level NPCs get cleared out quickly, meaning that both Quest targets and Quest givers are removed for starter/novice mages.
Adding fear (or at the very least, not suicidal overconfidence) to characters would at the very least make it so that maxed player’s don’t have to obliterate everything in their path.
