“when I was going to get a drink in the Red Fin, I’d never thought I’d follow this random guy into the dark sea, but here we are, the undeniable champions of the bronze sea. I’m glad I joined your crew.”

“Yeah, same here, uhh… What’s your name again?”

Basically at a certain loyalty level (probably the first one you unlock) you find out the deckhand’s first name. After a certain number of wins, you also get your rival’s first name.

This is to make them feel more important, considering these are the most important NPCs outside of the story ones. It would make no sense not to know their first names.

wait we only know their last names?

Deckhands and rivals only have a lastname

would be neat if they called us by our first name as well, atleast for high-loyalty deckhands

honestly that could be a nice setting to have, like you can choose what you want your crew to call you and the tone you want them to carry.

It’d be sorta like outfit themes but for dialogue.
Casual (first name), normal (Captain), militaristic (Sir/Ma’am/Commander), ect.

My rival on his way to be named Marshall Marshall

nothing wrong with that but i just think a single word for a name is cooler
a full name is needlessly formal. its weird the crew has full names tho

Amazing suggestion

Why did i instantly think of this song

I just pray that my female deckhands were not males all along…

forgor to rate, good suggestion fr fr

This is peak suggestion
Learning their (deckhands and rival) first name would indeed that make them more important, maybe at the end of some side quest that you get after maxing loyalty with deckhands/defeating your rival a certain amount of time

Keep cooking

“excuse me? you dont know my name?” [deckhand loyalty decreased]

Imagine confessing only to realize that your deckhand was, in fact, a reverse trap.

Jokes aside, this seems cool.

If this is not ingame in the nimbus update something is wrong.

An interesting suggestion, this can add more depth to our deckhands

this would geniuenely be such a good addition
