Forumers who are interested in OPSEC or cybersecurity can discuss those matters here. Things like private browsers, VPNS, alternative e-mail’s, Mass Surveillance, and anything OPSEC or Privacy related, thought I may as well make this thread for the few forumers that are interested.
considering the other day a decent amount of people are still using chrome,
in case you dont know chrome search engine is gonna be powered by AI soon (or already, im bad with date),
which, in case you dont know why is bad, AI hallucinates shits up and the fact that a lot of stuffs online are AI-generated now means that it’s very likely that the search engine is gonna spit wrong shits out for you due to AI inbreedings
note: i havent seen this in practice yet so im just retelling what ive heard, but basically the above will also fuck over smaller websites that relies on traffics for fundings and such cuz AI will scrap contents from them to answer you directly meaning less people will visit those site… aka, authentic stuffs made by people is gonna die out, and surprise, surprise, more AI stuffs aka more inbreedings
they also turned data collection (or something similar to that, my memory is quite horrid, sorry) for AI on without customer consent a wee bit back iirc so theres that also ig
on that note, is brave good? been using it for some times
Used it for almost a year and absoultely no ads on youtube whatsoever, can use extensions too plus it’s nice looking and just convenient, Better Chrome, no reason not to use it
i use brave, it’s debatably not as good as firefox in some regards(too lazy to switch) but definitely better than opera who likes to sell data
They also got a built in vpn added a month or so ago. free (crazy, but it is limited with a certain amount each month)
It is in a beta phase rn tho
there’s a difference between chrome having my data and it being out to the complete public
like ik no forumer will be able to go down on their knees and beg big corporations for my data (more specifically private data, such as full legal name)
Do you guys use any of the privacy focused browsers?
Do any of you selfhost servers?
Do you guys selfhost your emails?
Do you guys have like 20 emails?
Do you guys take advantage of temp emails?
Do you guys use Linux?
Do you guys completely de-microsoft your life and then go find free alternative software?
scoffs…
Typical Larpers, I’m truly the best as usual. Even when I’m distro hopping like a mfer.
I really should get off Chrome, Edge, and Safari and start using Firefox, shouldn’t I?
stop linux larping, you need a software to play roblox on linux like sober
so it’s too much effort for me!
who are you hiding from? big corporations (especially targeted advertising), dedicated basement dweller stalkers, random neighbors next door, or someone else?
for me it’s mostly the basement dweller stalkers, dedicated but poor
from what i’ve heard brave is good but the owner of it opposes gay marriage
Sounds like they’re scared of that.
And?
felt like it was relevant to mention
Not to be rude and I know you’re just trying to help but the thing is that people’s beliefs on gay marriage have nothing to do with cybersecurity, there’s nothing about Brave that has any sense of the creators beliefs other than privacy. A personal belief that would be relevant is something like believing surveillance is good, because that’s related to OPSEC but gay marriage has nothing to do with brave. I’ve used it for a year and there is literally nothing that has anything to do with gay marriage and brave. Just because the Founder thinks gay marriage is bad doesn’t mean the browser is gonna turn on it’s homo-detectors
i mentioned it because i would not use an application knowing its owner is actively against my existence and my will to marry whoever i want
dass all
yes because the owner knows exactly who you are personally and makes bank off of you, let’s be real here, if we didn’t want to use things because we don’t like the owner then most people wouldn’t use roblox, wouldn’t use microsoft, wouldn’t use anything because humans have different opinions. Sacrificing privacy due to someone elses opinion would be unwise. But in the end it is your decision.
Yall aren’t locked in enough
Learn JavaScript, code your own browser and search engine, use a different email on every account and store passwords in a notebook. Your lack of determination disgust me
