When you have people who judge video games by their videos instead of their game making video games, you’re obviously going to have a major focus on video instead of game.
Exhibit A: Combat Warriors, Exhibit B: Sol’s RNG, Exhibit C: The Strongest Battlegrounds
The same can be said about the industry as a whole, which is arguably what plagues our so beloved AAA studios; A board of investors that only watch video games instead of playing them.
It’s a bit of a shame, but at the same time the firework shows really do work to bring in the profits—most people fall for them after all.
