Okay the war can be justified on both sides with this.
On Arthur’s, the Olympians were tyrants (not textually true, but probably a justification Arthur used) and were with holding the full power of magic from humanity so they [The Olympians] could continue to rule.
On The Olympian’s side, they’re fighting for their survival (remember you asked me to justify the civil war) and this manifests in one of two ways. Either siding with Prometheus to defend Olympus and keep things as they are, or join with Arthur and hopefully keep your life.
These are justifications, things that are said to make what they are doing seem right. They may not be true, but it’s what they will tell themselves so they can still sleep at night. Hope this clears things up.
Probably some childhood trauma or poverty that forced him into a life of crime. It’s honestly somewhat admirable that despite his disadvantages, he’s managed to grow into such a powerful person. Not someone to emulate sure, but it’s impressive what he’s done.
Look into the Mess Hall in Shieldguard, a higher-up should be there reminiscing about the case with her bounty poster. (if you’re a bad rep, you’re probably better off searching for images)
Chained Prometheus to that rock after he gave humanity fire(I know he did this in the myth too, but its one of the like two things he’s explicitly stated to have done in the AU) and technically threw the first punch of the war by coming down to start taking magic from humans
Ah okay, well then that won’t take too much to justify.
Granted the punishment for giving humanity fire, isn’t so much for the act itself and more of Prometheus making a mockery of Zeus’s supposed omniscience. This is a slight against y’know, the ruler of the world, so Zeus is perfectly justified in punishing Prometheus.
On Zeus taking away magic. I mean, that’s not really a bad thing. Seeing what magic would lead to, and knowing Zeus and his connection to the fates and other prophets of the Hellenistic world, he probably knew what humans having magic would lead to. It’s honestly fine that he tried to do this, it’s Prometheus’s fault for getting huffy and starting a full blown civil war.
That’s the genocidal one all right! You can remember that Nero is the name of the genocidal king of Ravenna because Nero in real life was also a genocidal maniac.
Ignore this if you were just talking about the end of the war
The War of the Gods was mostly between Zeus and Prometheus fighting over the ideology of whether or not humans should have magic. Humans were mostly tied up in the magic wars including Cursebeard. Which is why when the War of the Gods was almost over and Prometheus was winning, Cursebeard and co was like an insane wildcard that turned the whole thing on it’s head.
Also my bad if I’m misinterpreting but it looks like you’re saying Poseidon defected for the sake of survival, but Poseidon genuinely became friends with Cursebeard before the attack on Mount Olympus.
Sorry if this comes off as a “well acksulaly ” thing, but I figured this was important info for this discussion if you hadn’t known already. If you want I can clip the parts of the lore doc that say this stuff.
Okay, I actually thank you for clearing this up. I need to actually read through the LD again to see all the changes and what not. On the topic of the W.O.G. you are correct that I misinterpreted and focused only on the Cursebeard war, and it’s cool that Poseidon did become friends with Arthur before stuff went sideways.
Also while you’re here, because no one else has mentioned this. Though I may just make a new topic on this. Regardless what’s your opinion on Electron Magic?
Here’s the description, and like I said I’m probably going to make a proper thread on it, because my problems have more to do with the naming rather than its effects.
Electron Magic (a teal and red lightning that leaves behind clouds of burning air)
