sorry bro
You know this entire thread could have been funny if it wasn’t for the blatant homophobia…
Yes.
What I’m saying is there’s a way to make it fill this role in a way that doesn’t suck.
The idea I brought up is not a buff. There would still (hypothetically) exist a fair tradeoff to give it the desired risk/reward dynamic. All this would do is take the (hypothetically) asinine cast time and (hypothetically) slapped-on self heal and replace those with downsides that (hypothetically) actually make sense and don’t (hypothetically) completely interrupt the flow of combat whenever you decide you need a buff. (hypothetically because i’m not a tester and haven’t tried it for myself and therefore have to clarify that this is mostly just speculation, as if it wasn’t fucking obvious by the color of my name.)
I’m not worried about it being balanced. I already assumed as much. My concern with it, just like the agonizing way High Jump got nerfed in WOM just before the TGR announcement, is that it really does not sound fun. It’s slow, forces you to be significantly less mobile for an extended period of time and, after ever other spell so far, just seems clunky as shit in comparison. And the high jump nerf felt just as shitty and counter-intuitive as I worried it would be, so I think I can trust my own judgement here as well.
This isn’t even like profound knowledge about game design or anything. It’s literally just seeing how other games do this thing better and wanting this one to do it in the same way instead of… whatever this is.
The self-heal doesn’t even make sense in-lore. This isn’t healing magic, it’s fucking glass. What? Making it cast faster literally achieves the same goal the self-heal would anyway, just do that. Christ.
I’d bully them to get their attention
down bad
This is clearly going nowhere so Ima just stop it here; also I agree that magics self healing doesn’t make sense, but then again “in-lore” spells don’t stop you in place so it’s just game logic at that point.
