Playing with some of the new magics I noticed that crystal felt almost identical to wood and sand’s piles didn’t do anything but sit there and look pretty. I’m mostly making this post to kind of spitball ideas that could make magics have more of their own identity and I’d love to see other concepts in the comments. I’m intentionally not giving too many details so that the ideas can be interpreted differently for the sake of balancing
Sand - Sand piles hit by a warm magic (Fire/Plasma/Magma/Maybe Lightning) turn shiny and will shatter when an enemy walks over them, applying the bleed status. Sand piles hit by a wet magic (Acid/Ink/Water) will turn a darker color and slow down any enemies that walk over them.
Crystal - Dealing 10% of someone’s health with a crystal magic attack makes a crystal stick out of the enemy’s body. When the enemy has enough crystals stuck in them, they will be applied the crystallized status and will be encapsulated inside a crystal similar to the frozen effect.
