Is new combat better or slow and generally worse?

Has anyone with tester access to the TU actually compared max level combat there to max level combat in the main game? All these changes to combat, energy, and cooldowns are being made, but has anyone even checked if the main game already feels faster and more intense? That’s literally what people want in a combat system that isn’t Pokémon, so I’m looking forward to that ty.

And Idk how id ask for demonstration or example because we have stubborn testers that’d consider a fight in sameria with two level 140 testers using only the spells we have a leak :man_facepalming:

i’m totally a tester and the game has improved 1000%

there has been a four zillion percent increase in fun

Whether it’ll be faster or slower is irrelevant to whether it’ll be better or worse

I’m no tester, but the changes to energy seem unnecessarily overcomplicated and feels like it forces players to use food as a mandatory requirement rather than simply acting as optional boosts

As long as most moves lock the user in place for using them, combat will remain fundamentally flawed regardless of how many balancing changes and reworks are added

Why are you putting “slow” like its an opposite to “better“? What, fights should last 30 seconds each? Nah, longer the fight - more apparent the skills of each side become, more engaging it is to try new strategies on the opponent, more epic will the overall rhythm of the battle be, and less effective sudden ganks or ambush attacks are in the case of slower combat. Besides, as the guy reliant most on my regeneration, I’ll stand for fights up to 3 minutes long as being the best ones

Ofc, during a slow fight, those who stacked agility can get more openings to just run, but agility got nuked (gg rip bozo), so who cares? These weaklings who run away aren’t worth fighting in the first place anyway

i don’t think he meant the duration of each fight but rather how fast paced a fight is

like a battle between two 200 power 200 size metal mages is slow paced as fuck but can be over in 10 seconds

while a battle between two speed conjurers is really fast paced but can last several minutes

either way i think faster paced combat is better for ao so i hope the new combat pace will be faster

there’s test server for AO
people know about these changes from patch notes (let it be trello or forum topic)
and no, ao did not update, it had few balance changes and bug fixes as of right now
there might be halloween or christmass updates but exact dates arent known
