Javelin isn’t that unique for a lost spell. Most of them aren’t in my opinion either but I only have an idea of this spell.
IDEAS
1
Javelin should at least go through NPCs and players since they’re based off a piercing weapon, not just a magic blast so they should pierce through the enemy.
This should also cause bleeding alongside the magics main status effect, although this lead to broken combos. So bleeding should’nt buff the effect or the damage of the main javelin thrown.
The main damage would be from the attack’s piercing.
2?(not sure)
This is a bit more wild. So, basically this is meant to turn javelin into a one time use spear, with it using its first 3 moves. It can only use 1 before breaking though, with the attack also causing bleeding.
This is to give mages a close-ranged option so they don’t just ignore this spell for Pulsar and Surge. This also gives a close-ranged option for magic hybrids so they have another option for a melee attack. Having this spell would ban players from using spears for sometime after the spell ends.
2.5
Javelin could also be a grab move, with the caster thrusting the spear into the opponent, before throwing the spear along with the enemy forwards. Thats when they actually get hit.
Having 3 moves to choose from seems overkill for a long-ranged class.
interesting idea that strikes a balance between them
if you hit a enemy it pierces and leaves “the magic energy to wreck havoc in their body” (pulsing dammage) but if you hit terrain it keeps it’s currnet behaviour
so one enemy doesen’t explode dealing dammage to nearby but instead it makes it good for lined up enemies
This is just pointless change. Makig it a grab when snare exists is pointless, making it a go through enemies defeats the point, amd i didnt read the second one cuz i dont care
1: i dunno i just dont like the sound of free bleeding on a spell. i mean its bleeding its a common status effect but still imagine if you got free soaked on a rare spell. The piercing effect, I don’t think it can be utilised in a game like this easily.
2: sounds like a fun idea for conjurer builds. Doesn’t feel very mage-y to have a temporary weapon, so i could imagine temporarily conjuring a weapon
2.5: snare upgrade idk. as a conjurer i never use snare as my weapon grabs are usually just better, not sure how i feel about converting one of my rare spells into one of my weapon skills. Could just be my personal bias.
overall, yeah i agree javelin is a bit lame atm but i dont agree with these changes.
