Lore loophole I just realized

So Vetex said that weapons are just as lethal to things in the arcane universe as they are to things in real life

Which means that like 99% of the population would get defeated by weaponry, and if we include devourers, that’s literally everyone

So my question is this, why would anyone care about progressing magic (AKA being a mage or getting losts) if regular ass weapons are just so much more effective? Sure a powerful slash beam against my opponent might inflict severe bleeding, but if a good old flintlock can just straight up inflict death, why bother?

And you might think that you’d practice magic for the imbuement, but that actually seems to make weapons weaker as it gives your abilities magic energy for your opponent to interact with and theoretically resist

This could very well just be a case of misunderstanding things but from what I’ve seen and heard that’s quite unlikely… there’s a few other small nitpicks I have with the lore but I’ll save those for another time

Yeah vetex lore is cringe, since despite the fact that weapons can oneshot we can resist with the magic energy surrounding our bodies paired with the magic energy surrounding everything in the war and seven seas after durza commited suicide, therefore rendering every attack as magical which can be resisted.

if this was applied right then normal magic would’ve mainly been a side arm thing except for the select few talented (curses too since they are basically reusable living nukes) , weapon development would be much higher thanks to constant war for curses and we couldve get much more cool stuff with technology

too bad it will just be used for annoying percentage damage mechanics and wacky beast defense

Weapons are cool but magic is superior overall

You just have fun as a pirate/marine or whatever, learn spells and if someone comes at you with a sabre then all it takes to end a fight is just a silly little

Guess I could also say that practicing magic has way more uses than weapons that are good for just combat

No that’s literally the problem magic is quite frankly not fucking superior to even itself :sob:

Technology should be much more developed if they’re supposedly as lethal as big V’s dark and broody super immersive lore claims them to be

Literally everything magic does in the AU technology can probably do way better

mages preparing their ultimate art ultra super dragon nuke whatever only to get headshotted by a lv15 sniper footsoldier grunt

This is why you use defense aura or just go out of range

I don’t think either of those are protecting you from a musket :broken_heart:

Vetex is thirsting over dark souls way too hard

Like what other reason is there for him to be suddenly implementing a parry-based boss in a game where the main defensive method is dodging, giving enemies %damage, and making vanity give you resistance against that damage if you look like a boring ass generic knight

muskets are so inaccurate tho, all it takes is just 1 dash backwards to be out of effective range

yeah i was gonna say, defense aura is magic in the end so it doesnt matter against non magic

Dude even the #1 mage glazer is agreeing with me here you can’t make this shit up :sob:

Yeah the issue is that, in lore, that literally doesn’t do shit

It’ll make you tankier against magic, but you can still be done in by 1 single bullet

i like magic a lot too but man the magic system feels so weird
its like soft but also weirdly limiting
which kinda ruins the point of soft type of magic systems

Sense it I guess? Noboody said you cannot cancel your spells

This is a dark period where mages will be opressed by other builds but will stay unbroken and eventually fight back

But unironically vetex lowkey needs a lobotomy

I think its more about everyone being a glass cannons thus why so high mortality

It just no longer makes sense for anyone in the canon to use magic. What use do you have from being a master user of apocalypse bringer magic if 1 bullet, 1 single bullet, is enough to kill you?
