Yeah disregard it considering people can still bypass it. Just waiting for this post to get closed rn

I think macro already checks for the image anyway (been around since wom)

Yeah, I thought it would just count similar images as the same thing since I know people would have the area around the bobber check if there’s no white line which if there isn’t, they’ll pause the macro for x time

the way this suggestion is worded is how my brain words things at 3 am after playing AO for the past 5 hours
please explain how spam clicking is bad and just clicking once is good?
I’m just very confused

Idk, I came up with this at 3am and just thought that out of the 5 macrofishers I caught, the similarities they have is that they still spam click even after the catch

It should only take a small amount of attention to the bobber since you would immediately see that the fish stays in place, the problem is the few sec wasted

idk it feels a bit scammy to have people catch a fish that isn’t actually catchable

They’ll get the next catch in only 1 second as compensation, perhaps even immediately reel it in for passing the checker

Also no one’s fr closing this suggestion :skull:

Idk man fishing up sunken iron items by yourself then assembling them like fucking exodia pieces is such an ego boost to me.

This I agree. The creme de la creme should only be accessible to people who are highly invested in the game. That’s why there should be methods introduced to prevent macro-fishing but they should not dampen the legitimate playerbase at all. Fishing is lame already no one wants it but with extra steps.

This would mean that the macroers (+people that have so many rare items at which point they’re no longer rare to you eh?) are also making minimal profit. A bunch of them screwing over each other with the normal playerbase as collateral damage. It would be fun to watch but if one can predict when a certain rare item’s value will drop, they can still make a profit out of it. It’s the nature of the marketplace and people who prefer making a profit out of rare items instead of using them themselves should learn to adapt to.

confusing to people that don’t keep up with patch notes / read them to every last detail. it is also just an annoyance

again, will confuse an actual player.

besides, if you really wanted, you could probably use a macro to determine if you’re being checked or not by determining if the line was reeled in very quickly after the exclamation point was detected, and imitate a behaving player

in order to create a non intrusive anti-macro you need to create a system that explicitly lets the player know “this is a sanity check.”

summoners war has macro detection every once in a while when it thinks you’ve repeated actions for a long period of time in a certain order; as a checkpoint, it introduces a check disguised as a “quiz event”, rewards the player for completion, and relieves them for current suspicion.

a macro can’t really answer this; nobody would waste the time to do so.

my personal take is I could care less if fishing is macroed, it is repetitive and boring decently far enough in, and is designed so

how about we just make fishing completely automatic so we can stop worrying about it entirely
the thing that stops you from afking with it is the fact that people will walk up and kill you

I mean deckhand fishing is allready automatic… it is just… 6 minutes at best per-fish

yeah something like a simple captcha would kill macro fishers
although the one you linked above I could probally whip up a OCR + image detection script to complete these

more time to rant on how stupid this suggestion is

tbh a interesting idea that would kill all the macros I have looked into
just make the ! change colors
literally all the macros I look at are looking for the red of the !. what if we just changed it’s color randomly

then they’d just make a version that looks for any variation of it.

which is mutch harder to do. you cant even detect quick color changes because that could be triggered by the time of day changing.
if they start checking for the general ! symbol. why not make it pop up with a random fishing-related symbol eg: a fishing rod, a fish, a shark

Then they’ll make a version that’ll check for every variation and every color of every variation.

Just like fishing knockback, this only really harms legitimate fishers while making it only a bit harder to set up a macro, and the downsides outweigh the upsides

so they are going to check 255*255*255*x variations
(where x is the number of icons)
this could be simplified by checking if it is similar but… that barely does anything
oh yeah and mirroring exists

because I wasn’t thinking of it being a “color set” but it just rolls 3 random RGB values

Yes, countering all of that should be comedically easy for anybody who knows how to set up a macro like that to begin with.
