I understand that not every magic is possible to 100% balance out
but i do believe magics like magma Pros: DoT, Damaging puddles, A good initial damage, and normal speed, slightly above average clashes
compared to a magic like Wood which Does “Normal” Damage , pretty bad clashes and goes very slow thats it
and again i understand that balancing every magic is hard but i feel like every starter magic should have the same potential, Now i also understand that pvp in this game is mainly skill based, but a high skilled magma vs high skilled wood, magma would most likely win even if you factor out the clashes.
now im not sure as ive only played with 3 magics to the current max level, but i think relative to the other magics, wood is pretty strong. its attacks are fairly big, can apply bleed, do solid damage, and arent that slow. also wood is the 8th best clasher.
but then again, i’ve only played with wood, ice, and wind which are all pretty mediocre magics atm so idk.
also on the topic of balancing, wind is pretty bad in pvp because knockback is generally just a very weak mechanic. knockback cant stop anyone from channeling a spell or charging, so its essentially nullified by channeling anything at all, and the wind’s knockback is it’s biggest gimmick so it really sucks that knockback is such a weak mechanic atm.
I do belive woods bleed isnt that high, also you have the fast magics the normal speed magics then the lower speed magic and the really slow magics wood is the the lower spped magics, and as for attack size everthing is the same on all magics in terms of size
not many Magic’s are really balanced with each other, no. Take gold and iron for example which are painfully slow, regardless of their damage their damage output, then on the other side of the spectrum you have lightning for example, which is an absolute beast in terms of speed and power
You see but vetex said himself that the starter magics were gonna be balaced thats why every thing has pros and cons but just not enough yet to classify it as balanced
I think your basing strengh on clash rates because i dont think iron is considered 5th strongest, also having a “strongest” shows that not even you think all magics are ballanced
yeah i think that atm some magics are strictly better than others, reread what i just said. wind is awful atm because its main gimmick mechanic is near useless in pvp, ice is inferior to pretty much every magic if it isnt with a magic that synergizes with it, and wood is as average as they come imo.
also lightning is super strong overall because it has high speed, damage, and has a status effect which stops you from moving, and it doesnt need another magic to help proc that status effect.
Yea this is exactly what i mean im glad other people understand, because you ask peole in the discord and thier all like “every magic is the same just retextured”
Currently, all the magics rely on gear very heavily
In base form, without any gear, they are pretty balanced, however the current enchants throw that off
As of now, the “power” stat adds a flat rate onto the damage of magics, which makes even technically “low-damage” magics do around the same damage as slower magics, whilst having far higher speed
This isnt true withough gear magics are still unbalanced in terms of their properties, the power stat increases damage yes but every one cant get the same amout of power so every magic would still have a potentioal gap because the people with lower strenghs before compared to higher sterngh magic users , higher strengh will always stay higher strengh because the amount you can add to you stemgh caps at the same number for everyone
I agree that some magics are unbalanced even without gear, however higher strength magics are not always the most damaging magics even with gear, because DOTs are a thing.
This suggestion really highlights a problem with how power is scaled atm. You should go give it a read.
Sure if your talking just attacking from a distance gold/iron is pretty bad but if your going for that your using the magic wrong. Use a bow instead and get up close with gold/iron and it’s very powerful. I actually prefer my gold file.
You do have a point here with magic speed only affecting your first move, but to make your magic “playable” you shouldnt be relying on weapons for ranged attacks that doesnt mean that they are balanced.
It’s not that the balancing is equal, it’s that it’s varied. Magics like Magma and Iron do well on their own, while magics like Wood and Water show their true potential when working with other magics.
Can’t say I agree with that. I was pvping an iron user yesterday and whilst he didn’t win any of the fights, he was able to consistently spam the placed explosion which just does insane dmg and really kept me on my toes, and when the beam move is released we will see the raw damage magics in the spotlight for pvp.
I honestly don’t know how well balanced the magics are because I’ve only played light, plasma and shadow but, drawing from other people’s experiences, balancing seems to be pretty good except a few hiccups here and there but I’d never expect the system to be flawless during the release.
“Now i also understand that pvp in this game is mainly skill based , but a high skilled magma vs high skilled wood, magma would most likely win even if you factor out the clashes.”
Really? I feel like the combat is most tactics based but I came from ABW so that might have skewed my perspective. Other than that I really agree with you. People are trying to say every magic is the same. Sure, maybe they’re all viable but some are definitely better than others.
