Magic Interactions: Any ideas?

What interactions between different magic types do you think would make sense? Reply with your ideas.

Check the “All Current Magic Interactions/Mechanics” list on the Trello for interactions that already exist: https://trello.com/b/Mv99bZYP/world-of-magic

I encourage interactions that involve magics that don’t have many already.

To insert something myself, I think that Light Magic should have special interactions with Glass Magic, Crystal Magic, Ice Magic, and maybe Water Magic relating to the refraction of light. This could just be a pretty visual effect, though if “magical light” can damage people, maybe the interaction could cause an AOE damage effect. Light could also interact with Iron and Gold magic since light reflects off of metals.

This is kinda the same topic so instead of reposting my ideas just gonna post the link to what i suggested last time : https://forum.worldofmagic.dev/t/ideas-to-make-magics-more-unique/367/2?u=wapingkoo

I think sand should be more of a shotgun type thing. :pensive:

That thread was posted a month ago with barely any traction on it. There’s no way I could even find that. I didn’t “repost” your stuff because I didn’t even know you said it in the first place.

for some interactions, I was thinking fire and water creating smoke, lightning and poison creating an explosion, and a lot more.

Water and fire already make steam when they clash. But the lightning and poison one might make sense.

Maybe poison could go on heavy magics like iron, gold and wood, wich then would make the magic poison upon hit.

In the final open testing session, me and a couple of friends found something out about iron magic. If a large iron projectile is hit by smaller fire or lightning projectiles (probably other elements but we didn’t have enough people to test that), it “conducts” the fire/electricity. When this projectile hits someone, neither of the effects are applied to the person that is hit. I do hope that this “conductivity” visual will have damaging properties later in development of the game.

I’m assuming this still happens in current version, but I haven’t tested it yet.

…I meant instead of copy and pasting my ideas again on THIS topic, i decided to link the ideas i posted on another one to not just fill up space for no reason
This was also a way to show ideas other people posted in that other topic too.

Sorry, I misunderstood.

Currently, charging the Iron projectile with fire/lightning doesn’t affect damage, but I’m pretty sure that it increases the area-of-effect of the Iron Projectile.
