Magic passives

Magic passives
effort 3.0 4 quality 2.75 4 reasonability 2.5 4

there really isnt a lot of differences between magics right now, so i thought of this to make each magic more unique

so the general concept is each magic gets a unque special passive, and maybe a 2nd one after awakening your magic, although second magics will only give there first passive

i think this could really help make each magic more unique, and make second magics mean a bit more considering you get an extra passive from your second magic, which could create some pretty cool passive combinations, like trying to get a ton of speed of extra damage or something like that, this could also open up more synergies between magics that dont already have synergies which could be pretty interesting yknow. also, if 3 passives is a little much then maybe just no extra awakening passives, and instead just 2, or maybe even passives only show up after awakening, or just the original concept, any of those 3

example : wind : you get a little bit more dash distance and high jump height, and also get a small wind effect while high jumping and dashing, and while holding block mid air you fall slightly slower

these are just examples to help understand my point a little more, i just thought this might be able to make magics more unique from each other

Pretty cool

Interesting but depending on its implementation can be good or bad. Usually I’m against making things more complex and abstract for the sake of, but then again I’m also generally in favor of experimenting so it’s a mixed bag here in this case. The unique aspect of trying stuff out despite not synergizing would also be a net positive in terms of build creativity.

However as said before this really depends heavily on how it’d be implemented, meaning the specifics of each passive and what it does. Which you did not do a lot of time thinking of. So it’d be extra legwork for the dev team to make and then balance each and every one of those passives.

(I bring this up because despite previously stating about not caring about PvP, the dev team puts tremendous amounts of effort into its balancing, (Constantly changing/Adding/Removing substats) so at some point it matters a lot to a certain degree)

Its all right but i feel like there are already plenty of passive variety from gear, gems substats, imbuements etc. Plus giving every magic a few passives would make them unbalanced against other builds. And if its too minor, it sounds like wasted development tbh, better put that towards something more meaningful

I don’t really like this.

I’ve seen a lot of people disregard there second magic/fighting style for just the dodge reflex. And for boxing, people will just run it not necessarily to use it but for the 10% block boost.

Magic passives, in my opinion, will only amplify this problem. Your incentivized to run the best synergies for your build which wouldn’t lead to higher diversity.

This would also be quite hectic to balance. Inherently this is a buff to magic, whether or not how minor it is. You either

A. Add magic passives but also add passives for other classes to offset this change

or

B. Make the passives incredibly insignificant only mattering in the smallest of interactions.

or

C. Nerf base magic stats to make people consider passives and synergies more

Thats just my opinon though.

Could you make an actual suggestion going over most, if not all the magics and give them buffs? This suggestion is basically “Add a new weapon”

yes it would
small issue however: balancing

lets make light magic more meta for second magic, tp reflex having the same distance than bursting and 125% attack speed arcanium wasnt enough :smiling_face_with_three_hearts::heart_eyes:

oh ye, forgot about balancing, understandably this failed

This could be really interesting if they implement it, but I doubt they will. It feels like it could be really unbalanced, but then again maybe it will be great, who knows. If it was to be implemented, the possible problem could be that it steers players toward a certain magic more than another because they want that passive specifically. Also, how would it work for non-magic classes?
