Rare Spell: Magic Rush

You know how there’s this one move that allows people using strength to lunge forward and punch you? Well, what if mages could also do that, but in a different way.

Obtainment:
Must be magic level 175 to use this scroll on your first magic, and whatever scaling system for the second and third.
This can be found rarely in sealed chests, or similarly to how other rare spells are obtained.

Description:
Cast magic circles behind and beneath you, and imbue your fist with magic, then propel yourself forward at a high speed to deliver a magic punch to your target.

Usage:
Upon holding the key, a magic circle will appear behind you and beneath you, and you start “levitating” (The reason why I put levitation here is because if you do this standing on the ground, there could be a chance you hit the ground immediately, therefore wasting the move. The magic circle you’re on is levitating.) Your character will then face your cursor, and when the key is let go (Or after 4 seconds,) you will be launched in the direction your character is facing but cannot alter your direction once you let go of the key (or being launched automatically after 4 seconds.)

Spell sliders/adjustments:
Imbuement
The higher this is, the more damage you deal, at the cost of slightly less speed.
Ranges: 75% to 150%
Default: 100%

Spread
The higher this is, the more leniency you have (hitbox), at the cost of damage.
Ranges: 50% to 150%
Default: 80%

Reason to Add

Since other strength and weapons builds can lunge forward and strike you, why can’t mages do the same? Additionally, this could allow you to close the distance between you and your opponent, allowing you to get close range to M1 or snare. Snare has also been pretty underused simply because it’s not very consistent in general, making it also less preferable over spells like blast and pulsar spamming. This can allow people to make a close-range combo that actually takes some skill, while at the same time not being absolutely unfair to the person they’re fighting.

Warlocks can only imbue their fighting style with magic, you cannot imbue magics with a fighting style

Ah, ok. Didn’t quite get how that worked at first, since I never played as a warlock. Thanks for the clarification.

Changed it, thanks again for that.

As for the suggestion itself, this seems kind of unnecessary? Mage functions best when distanced from their opponent with any close-range moves (snare, self-explosion and surge) being mainly used as ‘get off me’ tools. Conjurer and warlock already come pre-built with close-range skillsets, and paladin doesn’t really seem to encourage a close-up playstyle just like mage

It’s a good point, however I like to occasionally go in on the opponent to m1, and this is one way to do that. Also, this can allow mages to better catch runners. I seen way too many of those, and spent a full half hour chasing someone across the entire bronze sea just for them to combat log. Though, I do understand why you say this.

(Also, honestly, how were they able to stay alive with me chipping them with pulsar and surge, plus sniping them with blast?)

Well agility is getting shot dead so if you still fail to catch up to players when FR drops then that’s on you

Regen build most likely

Technique/Spell names should usually be one word, rush could be appropriate but that may overlap with technique names

As for the suggestion itself… meh. Hasta already does this but in a more unique way, we don’t really need another crash clone.

Again, pretty fair point. Guess with FR on the horizon, I picked the wrong time to post this.

Also yeah, that would probably be the only reason, unless they were exploiting, but it really didn’t look like that.

Per chance can I know what hasta is? Never seen that one before.

It’s one of the rare magic spells that is coming with FR, basically a diagonal crash for magic builds

neat idea, just feels like it strips some uniqueness from strength and weapon builds, since they’re supposed to be the close-range builds

its somewhat similar to your suggestion, just you use a javelin to lunge instead

Ah, then in that case, I guess I should have read the spoilers as well.

too warlock, fix it with weapon shapes and done, like.. spear, bolt, javelin or trident

WHATEVER I LIKE THIS I WANT IT KNOW!!!

bro quake exists and it is just slam/devastate for mages lmaoo

kid called summon elemental

thats the thing… it already kind of exists

Since a full mage build wouldn’t have strength, I let them imbue their fist with magic to compensate. Basically, their magic makes up for their lack of strength.

yeah, but that’s more of a get-off me tool, whereas this is just straight up aggressive, not how mage is intended to be played
