This wouldn’t really be a problem except for when an island has been recently captured and the bar takes up a third of the screen for 5 minutes for no reason. I don’t see why this sould be the case?

The bar is fine as is
Yeah it was way too hard trying to fight someone from far away when all I can see is a claim bar
