The Grand Navy has multiple military academies to provide officers for its growing navy. Most schools are located in Astoria, the Chimera Sea. These schools have undergone massive expansions ever since the establishment of the Grand Navy to keep up with its growing demands.
The Naval Academy provides military education to the nobility, and its students are mostly from Astoria. Its main goal is to train members of the Astorian nobility into future leaders and admirals.
The Grand Navy also has a polytechnic school that enrolls students from Astoria and its protectorates, training them into engineers and scientists who serve the GN. All students are automatically part of the military and are required to serve. Once they graduate, they become officers of the Grand Navy and are given the rank of vice-captain. The Polytechnic also serves as the forefront of arcane technological research in the Grand Navy.
Middle-class and lower-class non-Astorian youth compete intensely to enter the polytechnic because it’s one of the few ways to climb the social ladder. Most Grand Navy officers are from the aristocracy, so the routes for commoners to enter the upper echelons of the GN are few, and even if they do make it, they often face discrimination and setbacks in the navy.
