Being locked to a single eagle patrimony is annoying. And with it having the lowest stat req of all relics, it becomes the biggest utility in any spirit build due to the lack of skills spirit has.
My suggestion is simple: add a way(or multiple) to get additional copies of the eagle patrimony
And about the lore: there’s supposed to be only one of each relic but I personally have about 20 copies of the tide stone band. So that argument doesn’t make sense
Here are some possible ways to get it:
You must complete a legendary+ treasure chart ending at Dawn Island
You also get a free second copy at the start of the game (balances the bug that happened)
A special repeatable quest at dawn island
Or just anything else
We are limited to only 1 of the same relic equipped, so allowing this simply lets spirit builds easily switch to a different eagle patrimony with skills suited for something specific instead of needing to switch every individual skill.
Essentially, this is a QoL change
To give an example of why this change would be good:
I need my eagle patrimony with all beast-conquering rites and specific enchant for sea monster hunting
And now I need to switch it for basic pve
This is what you can do with all relics, its just unfair eagle patrimony is the only one that you can’t do this for, which is problematic for certain builds which mainly use the eagle patrimony.
The idea I had, is to make something called “Relic Replicas”. These are, functionally, normal relics, just for NPCs to wield. They share the model of the relic they’re based on, but recoloured a bit to signify that it isn’t the original. This would give Spirit npcs a moveset, instead of the route being restricted to players and minibosses only.
You would also be able to get these replicas as weapon drops from those npcs or even chests. I came up with that idea initially as a way to get additional rites, but then the devs added rite tomes, so it isn’t an issue anymore.
So, with the tomes existing, here’s the new concept: the replica in the hands of an npc is just a replica: Eagle Necklace being a copy of the Eagle Patrimony, Ocean Band being a copy of the Tidestone Band, and so on. If you get it as a drop, you’ll instead receive the actual Relic, not a Replica. What to do with the minibosses who already drop them… Uh, this is the hole in my idea, I don’t know.
But, the main question is, why do we need a second copy of the same relic in the first place? What is the purpose, if you can’t use the two at the same time?
Just shift the weapon system a bit and make it able to equip same weapon twice or thrice at the same time and call it ‘focus’ or ‘concentration’ of weapon/relic.
This would solve your problem and drip problems and needless grind and nonsense of being limited by game system problems too while not touching lores or balances too much I guess
I mean a quest chart could I guess, it’s not like it’s unfit for charts either
lowkey though, quest charts really should be expanded upon imo. They’re either random like the seafaring one, or the dig spot is basically an inch away from the quest giver
i think they want to use 2 eagle patrimonys just because it has low requirements, but they already acknowledged that you cant use 2 at the same time so i guess they want to just have a spare to swap to when they need a different moveset? though thats still kind of weird so idk
at that point just suggest weapon skill loadouts or something (actually seems like a good idea imo)
The same reason people may have multiple copies of other relics, each may be specialized with for different situations with different rites and enchants. My build just happens to utilize eagle patrimony the most. But it feels somewhat unfair that I can’t have multiple copies of my main compared to other spirit builds.
But again, it’s really just QoL. I wanna have a specially enchanted version of eagle patriomy for, lets say, sea monster fighting with beast conquering rites and not have to change it every time I do anything else
