I’ve thought about all the things that Vetex added and pretty much forgotten or barely has any use in the game but for some reason got added anyways. So now I’m making a series of suggestions that’s based around the theme of making those old mechanics having more depth in the game.

Considering the new developers are actually listening to the community now, also willing to take suggestions and do them if they’re easy to add, I decided to come up with this suggestion for gunpowder barrels. The reason behind this suggestion is that gunpowder barrels barely has any use in the game aside from being sold and used to siege clan islands (Which barely anyone even do since it’s way faster to just wear max destruction set and use your ship cannons/mortars), so I wanted to give them more functionality.

More Gunpowder Barrel Functionalities

  • Holding the drop button “R” would cause all the gunpowder barrels to be thrown in front of you in an arc, this would cause it to explode upon any solid contact.
    • Throwing them while underwater will only cause them to drop instead of thrown.
  • Barrels will now have interactions when used in fishing and charting activities.
    • When gunpowder barrels directly explode on the ocean, a pool of blood will spawn with the size depending on the type of gunpowder barrel that exploded. Doing this would have a small chance to spawn white eyes by luring it with a huge pool of blood from dead fishes.
      • Normal = 2.5% chance
      • Imbued = 5% chance
      • Arcane = 10% chance
      • Can be stacked when exploding a combination of gunpowder barrels to increase the chances of spawning white eyes, this would also increase the size of the blood pool.
    • Exploding any gunpowder barrel near a luminous lure bait will change the particle colors and give bonuses depending on the type.
      • Normal = +50% Base duration and turn the particles orange
      • Imbued = +50% Base duration, +0.5x giant chance, and turn the particles red
      • Arcane = +100% Base duration, +0.5x giant and arcane, and turn the particles purple
      • Exploding a combination of gunpowder barrels would only stack the base duration.
    • Exploding any type of gunpowder barrel near ponds would turn the color of the pond’s water into a red tint. This would also cause all the fish caught start to rot for 5s instead for 24h. The duration of the dead pond would last for a minute.
    • Exploding any type of gunpowder barrels on the treasure chart spot would immediately dig up all the chests, causing it to be immediately complete. Can only complete one treasure chart spot even if there’s another one at the same spot.
    • Using gunpowder barrels to complete a treasure chart spot would affect the rarity chances of the chests that would be dug up.
      • Normal = +5% chance for a chest to be uncommon
      • Imbued = +25% chance for a chest to be uncommon
      • Arcane = +50% chance for a chest to be uncommon, +5% chance to be mystic, and +1% to be legendary.
      • Chances cannot be stacked when exploding a combination of gunpowder barrels.
  • Selling gunpowder barrels to criminal npc shops would increase its value by 15%.
  • Pressing “F” while holding any type of gunpowder barrels would light them up, exploding in 5s. Will have a text explaining the function when holding one or two gunpowder barrels.
  • Gunpowder barrel explosions now has knockback, intensity increases based on rarity and can be stacked.
  • If you light up gunpowder barrels while underwater and wait for it to explode, it will deal -50% damage but still deal knockback to those around you.
  • If you explode any gunpowder barrel nearby the mouth of an underwater volcano would cause it to be active immediately.
  • Throwing any type of gunpower barrel into the mouth of a dark sea island volcano would cause it to be active immediately.
  • Damage from gunpowder barrel explosions will always cause the player steering a ship to get off the wheel regardless of the type used.

For clarity, does this mean that I could toss a luminous lure, an arcane barrel, and then just stack chunking normal gunpowder barrels at it until it lasts the rest of my natural life?

anyways, since throwing them into volcanos activates them, I think it’d be funny if something happened if you went through the nightmarish journey of getting an arcane barrel to the epicenter.

World of Magic barrel that upon explosion unanchors everything in a 200 meter radius and spawns 30 read admirals that aggro on anything nearby

i like the purpose of the suggestion but overall most of these seem kind of pointless

thats fine since its at least funny, don’t see too many functional uses of it outside of like ambushing someone (imagine jumping someone with this, one person assassinates them then the other tosses an arcane gunpowder barrel :sob:)

fine i suppose, good way to get white eyes, however bleed potions already do this so it still seems kind of pointless.. maybe doing so could unlock new types of fishes or a new fish mutation? just some kind of alternative reward to doing this (kind of like the nuke mechanic in fisch where you can catch one and either keep it or drop it to make the nearby area nuclear for about an hour)

pointless, nobody would actively do the first part in the first place and then you add the second part so there’s incentive to not do it.. why waste development time on a feature that people aren’t going to use? and its also just going to be a way for people to be trolls by exploding a barrel in a pond youre fishing at so you won’t want to catch any fish since they’ll rot near instantly

at the very least it’d be good for bone farming but thats about it

this one’s alright but still don’t see it being used too often unless they’re already nearby gunpowder barrels, gunpowder barrels simply take too much effort to gather just for stuff like this, unless of course we go the fish route and make it so it unlocks a new type of modifier too (maybe blasted chances? or something new altogether)

these are all fine, especially the volcano ones

bleed potions can only spawn sharks when u have pvp on tho

This is better in terms of farming white eyes since you can stack the chances of the gunpowder barrels which can reach 100% such as exploding 10 arcane gunpowder barrels. Bleeding potions regardless of tier always have the same spawn chance. This pretty much means that Ravenna is the best place to farm white eyes due to the amount of gunpowder barrels around there.

And this too:

I really doubt the new developers can make a work around the pvp toggle to allow sharks to spawn with it off, so this is a better alternative at least.

Luminous lures are really useful in terms of catching fish way too fast, I added this for ponds since it’s also faster to reel in pond fishes than ocean fishes considering they’re small (In terms of strength as well so it’s less time both in waiting and reeling). If they’re looking to catch fish for food then it’s better to do fish on the ocean.

If they think it’s them trolling, they’re wrong since they’ll be doing them favors of doing the labor of gathering gunpowder barrels for them. This benefits the fisherman because fish caught would still count towards the journal, if they catch a legendary pond fish then they get the 2 scales almost immediately, and also it increases the duration of the luminous lure bait plus small bonuses for fish types (You can even possibly increase the duration of the luminous lure bait to an hour with a ton of gunpowder barrels, allowing you to catch fish faster without having to constantly throw them).

The main purpose of this is mainly for lost and mythical charts where you have to constantly fight pirates before you even manage to start digging, there’s even a chance that they’ll destroy the treasure spot since you’re digging there. Now with gunpowder barrels you just need to find the spot and throw the gunpowder barrel on there then immediately complete it, you barely have to fight off the pirates and if you’re just after the chests then you can immediately get them and move onto the next spot.

except 10 arcane gunpowder barrels is very hard to come by, even if you do a full ravenna loop youll probably get on average 2 or 3 (if youre lucky), meaning you usually have to do it at least 4 times or else just gamble on a 10-30% if you use them once per loop

additionally, how will you stack them? the original text implies that the explosion is instant so the only way i can see it is if you held 2 arcane gunpowder barrels and dropped them at once so it caps out at a 20%

i can think of plenty of ways

  1. sharks become client sided (only showing up for the person who threw the blood potion and thus only targetting them)
  2. sharks will become neutral to other players and only actively target the blood potion thrower, thus only attacking when they are first attacked (can bypass shark repel), and will despawn if the user who threw them leaves the area or game
  3. just remove the restriction in the first place, them going after other players isn’t that big of a deal (its even worse with pvp on which makes the restriction pointless in the first place)

it makes no sense though both logically and lore-wise

how would exploding a barrel make your lure better? why is the ocean fish immune to dying to the explosion? seems pointless to restrict pond fish just because they’re easier to catch, especially when pond fish are the ones that would need this buff more than ocean fish

there are other features you can come up with to extend luminous lure bait, such as just making it equippable to the rod like old baits used to be (thus making it infinite), and there are also other features you could do to expedite the rotting process that would make sense

if you want to farm scales the ocean/dark sea would be a better place since massive exists, there’d be no reason to go to ponds to farm scales and thus no reason for pond fish to need to rot in 5 seconds

the pirates spawn after you complete the chart, not when you first start digging, and i already mentioned it was an okay idea (doesn’t make too much sense but doesn’t have any glaring issues other than gunpowder barrel accessibility)

New way to blow up pvp off players ships

It takes like 3 minutes to go in a loop, the gunpowder barrels respawn in 1 minute if placed on a ship.

You can drop them on the ocean like this:

Easy on paper, will cause issues when implemented. First, client-sided sharks would definitely work but they’ll still have to modify its AI behavior, it’s easy to say it would only target the shark thrower when it’s harder to make sure it will act that way considering how roblox’s hostile npc logic works. Second, same issue as first where it’s hard to make sure roblox’s AI will behave that way even while client-sided, meaning it could target other players but it won’t deal damage to them which leads to a very abusable method. Third, won’t happen because supposedly you have PvP off which means you shouldn’t be able to damage other players even indirectly, this will lead to where even PvPers will abuse this in ganks and wars.

The main reason why gunpowder barrels could work to spawn white eyes is because it’s not that easy to hoard tons of gunpowder barrels (Also arcane gunpowder barrels aren’t really that very hard to come by if you use the Ravenna method, in a single loop there’s a really high chance that one spawns), at best you’ll have to take 10 minutes for even a single guaranteed white eyes and that’s balanced considering white eyes are the second strongest war seas monster we have.

Something about everything having magic according to Vetex, so in my head with gunpowder being refined powder (Really small dust particles), it can then mix together with the luminous lure. The fish isn’t exactly immune to dying, they’re already dead which is why they rot almost immediately when caught. You don’t exactly catch bones when trying dynamite fishing in real life :sob: .

Those works of course but at the same time this suggestion could also exist along other alternatives. Not everyone is able to max out fishing profession so this is in some way helpful in terms of having your friends level up their fishing profession as well without having to constantly throw luminous lure baits.

They have a chance to already wait for you to arrive at the area and in both directions if it gives two, so in total you’ll most likely have to fight 4 waves of pirates at worst.

This got fixed already :sob: . Pretty much in the next update PvP off players will no longer be able to abuse this without any consequences.

maybe once you memorize the locations but it took me i think about like 6ish or so minutes when i was using it to level up my most recent file, and regardless thats 15 minutes of doing nothing but sailing in a circle for a single white eyes fight whereas blood potions (which are way more accessible) can spawn one in like 2 minutes

right i forgot, i thought the suggestion was implying you had to drop them in which would cause them to explode on impact or something, my bad

hard, maybe, but not impossible, either way the restriction shouldnt be there in the first place they should just do something about it being abusable since blood potions are a way better way of spawning sharks

in clan servers (where most ganks and wars take place, ive not seen consistent ganks nor wars in guild servers), pvp is forced on, and pvpers already abuse this anyway

the only issue is pve against pve which i gave solutions to

i didnt even interpret the fact that this has the same issue as blood potions just way harder to execute until i read this

they could just make it so blood potions don’t spawn regular sharks for pvp off players and instead just have the rare chance for white eyes and it’d basically just be this feature but better, but thats boring

yes but you said only pond fish would rot immediately, not ocean fish, so why are the ocean fish immune to the rot? not that the rot is a good idea in the first place but i dont understand why specifically targetting pond fish

but it still requires someone to have luminous lure to activate in the first place, which at that point its easier to just replenish the luminous lure than it is to look for gunpowder barrels then throw them on it

ive seen them spawn on the ocean and chase after me but never on my exact spot until i finish digging, and ive done a decent chunk of mythicals so either this is a lost exclusive mechanic or its so rare to the point that it doesn’t really matter

New files aren’t really intended to farm white eyes though, so at best you’ll be a max level file with a somewhat fast or max speed ship with enough T2 revealing potions to last you 20 minutes. Also your example of spawning a white eyes in 2 minutes is a really extreme case of statistics, considering I’ve been farming Poison Jaws for poisonous tooth and reputation for the guild on the side using bleed potions and on average I spawn a white eyes around 30m to 2h, it’s way too inconsistent to be a viable way to spawn white eyes. Whereas the strongest sea monster we have in the war sea, the kraken, has a really high chance to spawn on the edge of the map. We need an actual good way to spawn white eyes and gunpowder barrels works perfectly for it.

Yeah would really love for there to be no restriction at all but no doubt a lot of people would complain if it wasn’t restricted, there are really loud minorities of bad apples in the community who would ruin the fun out of people’s time. It’s the reason why PvP toggle was begged for years to be added in the game  .

Clan wars yeah most definitely it takes place in clan servers as someone who’s been playing in it for a long time, though ganks most definitely happen often in guild servers too. Especially for people who are aiming for renown leaderboard since as some of the leaderboard friends that I know, guild servers has a higher chance to find someone with above 250K renown than it is for clan servers plus the benefit of it being nearly full so you can take it almost for granted that your target won’t have to call for backup.

Also it doesn’t really help that clan servers are often dead after a month of an update release…

This would actually be better not gonna lie though at the same time, you’re wasting a lot of resource just for white eyes when you could have toggled PvP on to at least be able to farm back the shark tooth you used and then buying the pinecones from renown shops. An alternative such as gunpowder barrels would work for cases where you don’t want to waste any items on you.

Uh because ponds are an enclosed space unlike the ocean I guess. Pretty much similar to real life where trying dynamite fishing in an ocean area would still have fish outside the blast radius to swim inside it afterwards, whereas if you use dynamite fishing in a pond then it would just kill everything in there unless it’s a lake. Also I just think that implementing it to the ocean as well when it would spawn a pool of blood wouldn’t work, since for some reason you can’t fish when there’s blood in the water.

I mean luminous lure baits only last for 2m30s, you’re not gonna like doing that every now and then. Especially when you know people who’ve fished a lot would just turn AO into a small window somewhere in the corner and just watch videos while they wait for the exclamation mark to appear and just click because fishing is that boring in this game :sob: .

So pretty much you’re given a choice, the first one being constantly throwing luminous lure baits every 2m30s or getting the gunpowder barrels in Ravenna for around 10 minutes to increase it to 30m+ depending on the rarity of gunpowder barrels you’ve hoarded.

Yeah it’s a feature for lost and mythical charts. It’s not that they won’t spawn on the exact spot, they’re coded so that if you arrive on any island that the chart directs you to, pirates would spawn to ambush you (In this case they would always be on the edge of the island because that’s where you first set foot in it). The chances start from really low in the first step and slowly increase in the next steps with the final part being almost a guarantee to spawn pirates and ambush you before you even start digging. On top of this, there are pirate ships sailing towards your location and getting off to attack you.

i havent done it in a while because of the whole pve toggle restriction, however when i did used to do it id consistently get a white eyes every 50 or so bleed potions, so unless they decreased the chances dramatically i don’t see what the issue would be here

or we can just make higher tier bleed potions increase the chance to spawn them drastically

i just don’t really understand why gunpowder barrels would need this, they’re fine as they are currently and your other suggestions about throwing them and lighting them preemptively are good ideas but i dont think they need anything past that, especially when it’s for something that would be fairly important

the thing is the restriction just isn’t needed, it was only there as a band-aid solution because vetex only cared about adding new content rather than expanding on existing content so he didn’t want to add new mechanics to allow the pve players to engage in pve without ruining other player’s experience

speaking of which, another idea could be to make it so you can only spawn sharks when you’re a certain distance from an island, would make sense having to do it on the open ocean and would also make it so you can’t spawn 500 sharks at sameria’s port, and id see no reason why this would be difficult to implement

i see, ive never experienced that myself but i do admit ive seen a decent chunk of warlords in guild servers as well as players above 250k

this gives me another question though, can pvp players spawn sharks in guild servers? because if so then the issue is still there just restricted to players who play with more risk in a sense (pvp players being able to indirectly kill pve players via sharks)

apex gear is pretty good and the white eyes tooth is getting that one new skill next update so the resource cost would be worth it, but i made that new idea in this reply so i guess i’ll see how you think of it

i don’t think fish would swim towards an explosion though, they’d swim away from it if anything especially if they were close to the blast radius and saw fish get torn apart, survival instincts outweigh any form of free meal

also thats weird i didnt know blood prevented fishing, that should be fixed :aga:

which leads me back to saying there can be other ways to extend it rather than gunpowder barrels, such as just increasing the duration it lasts (good for groups) or making it attachable to the rod for inf use (good for solo)

yeah ive never experienced this, just the pirate ships but usually i can finish the chart before they reach me (sealed chests are another story, usually i just choose to abandon them unless a shipwright is close by since they despawn so quickly)
