Old Vetex Clip from when he was working on the Durandal in Arcane Adventures

Link in the first comment

how do I make twitch clips show up as videos I haven’t used this site since 2021

haha got it

good times

fight back bro

he genuinely sounds a bit happy here, wonder what happened? age? or just a spark dimming?

both

Somehow I’ve seen this one before

Don’t know how, but it might be something like old videos on Vetex’s/Tech’s channel

i do wonder…

but in all seriousness, there is truth to his statement

ever since covid, people (especially those that are younger) have been moving towards being more digital, often getting addicted to being online, im sure we all know how bad addictions can be to some extent (whether from personal experience or just having heard about it) and this is so exception, and the worst part is that many times the parents are to blame for this since they enable such addictions

this is whats causing the new generation to be seemingly developing at such a slower rate compared to the past ones (such as children having literacy rates much lower than they should at their ages), and it’s also causing a lot of stress in those that are addicted, which usually manifests itself into anger at not just other people but at nearly everything, hence the increased toxicity

this, however, is not the full picture, as there are other issues that stem from this problem as well.

due to increased online presence, these people often lack many meaningful real world connections and as such they don’t learn basic empathy through conversing with actual people, which also can cause them to forget that other users online are people as well, so while some of them may not be rude in person, they will be rude online because there’s little risk to such and they unfortunately don’t know any better

and this isn’t just a vetex or roblox issue, this has been spreading to all corners of the internet, many of my favorite developers of varying kinds (not just game development) have been stepping away from their passion because people get angry at the simplest of things, such as slow release times, not fulfilling “promises”, and other minor inconveniences

it really is unfortunate but there’s not much that can be done by us, its entirely up to those affected and also mostly their parents to fixing this sort of behavior

thought it was a new clip but this one’s hella old and well known

guy above me is absolute nuts

it’s not on their channels but I think it’s on vetcord’s lvl 25 or general

Emotional intelligence as well. So many people just cant adapt to situations and be understanding of others. In fact, many important skills such as critical thinking are developing much later and its pretty worrying. Worst part is, from the looks of it, barely anyone is doing anything to stop it (or atleast in America cuz yknow, America)

Can’t belive we allowed non magic users a role of power these days :sob:

kinda sad i missed out on these times because i was a braindead kid who didnt even have a roblox account, he seemed so much happier :broken_heart: tbh i dont think ive ever even heard vetex speak, or maybe i have and i just forgot what he sounded like

It’s millions of factors, including the ones you mentioned too.

Back when Arcane Adventures was at it’s peak, there was quite literally no game quite like it on Roblox. Seriously. There weren’t that many good games back then. Arcane Odyssey is still a rather 1-of-a-kind, but with more competition and so many other games doing “cool stuff”, people have become a LOT more prone to nitpick and grift. This also plays with the addiction thing you mentioned: Too much consumed and suddenly everyone’s a connoisseur.

Another thing is obvious: Growth. More people, more voices, more room for the ‘uninspired’ to give a piece of their mind. It just so happens that today’s youth is also very, veery ‘uninspired’.

Outlets is another thing. It wasn’t so easy to reach Vetex back then. We still used Skype. You couldn’t just go on his discord server or the AO forums or even the AO subreddit and start dumping garbage right at people’s front lawn even if you wanted to.

People have also just genuinely gotten more toxic with time, and not by a small amount either. Nowadays especially, the gaming scene is so full of grifting, toxicity and negativity. It’s not just Roblox either. People are grifting and trashing on GTA fucking 6 of all things. That’s the most hyped game of all time and there’s tons negative outrage around it and none of it is even genuine.

It doesn’t help that Vetex is (or was) a solo developer. The gaming market is oversaturated and he’s basically branded his name all over the game, and associated a huge part of himself to it. Not only is he emotionally invested, but the difficulties that come with making a game of your own only bring more negative feedback as the product just doesn’t come out as good or as quickly..

I sympathize with him, but for very long now, I always thought he was out of his mind for continuing wanting to develop the game all on his own. I don’t know the state of it now, but I’m guessing with the message he’s left, it’s in a rather rocky place.

he actually put together a team a good while ago but progress was still fairly slow[1], vetex leaving was the best thing to happen to not just the game but also for him as well since he’s making a new game for fun until he gets motivation to work on AO again

the new developers he brought onto the team have been putting in immense work at a pace unknown to this game, its not an exaggeration to say chapter 10 will be full release part 2 since it seems they’re going to be finishing off all of the weapon skills that got forgotten, fixed a ton of bugs, added a ton of QoL, and are expanding existing systems rather than adding more and more bloat

anyway thats just a lot of yap, tl;dr is that AO seems to have a bright future with these new passionate developers

  1. (i think the old devs who did stay are still working on single features that they’ve been working on for months, one of them was making a single new sea monster and the other was implementing an instrument system, both of which are seemingly still not done according to trello) ↩︎
