Optimization Update Patch Notes (Discussion Thread)

I see.

In the discussion about the current state of the game vs the previous state of the game, which is what we were talking about, that is in fact true.

Thank you for the clarification.

all i ask is why

What does “every AOE ability” even mean? Motherfucker, that’s like Mage’s entire kit???

probably everything that isnt like piercing shot or beam

Before:

120 STR/WEP | 168 Ult
138 STR/WEP | 186 Ult
156 or 162 STR/WEP | 204 Ult
174 or 180 STR/WEP | 228 Ult
Unusable on Hybrid
192 or 198 STR/WEP | 240 Ult

After:

100 WEP | 180 Ult

  • 100 STR

130 WEP | 210 Ult

  • 100 STR

160 or 170 WEP | 240 Ult

  • 100 STR

190 or 200 WEP | 270 Ult

  • 100 STR

Unusable on Hybrid
220 or 230 WEP | 300 Ult

Is this change somewhat to give two-way hybrid builds more uniqueness from savants?

Or am I getting off track?

It’s so they follow a more streamlined and conventional process. Which has like multiple different benefits.

Primarily it means you can’t steal Warrior skills.

Secondarily I left a bunch of other justifications.

  • Tiers currently only scale off Weapons stat

176 was with the 65% split though so it’s 174 now

Makes sense, once again thank you.

It quite literally doesn’t hurt Conjurers at all in any respects.

Actually it hurts a couple of things:

So hybrids don’t get to use the skills intended for warrior?

Yeah. Apart from that there are a few other concerns with how each change affects individual requirements.

But overall the amount of content that is accessible remains largely unchanged apart from Warrior skills.

We just said to make them the same since Spirit Flight felt overall worse, mostly cuz the range scaling is weird. Didn’t know it’d make Spirit Flight even worse.

All the effort put into maxxing out charting so you don’t get free multipliers with little downsides because cooldowns can be rotated around. You have people running all Lost-Knowledge. Doesn’t sound very lost to me.

= We were doing this but Vetex initially said no but we provided additional explanation as to why it’s worth pursuing.

Mages talk like Blast getting a higher cooldown would ruin PvE as if any other class can prog the entirety of PvP with a single skill. It’s by far the easiest class in the game to prog PvE.

  • Example: When we first tested Calvus he was easy to beat if you just spammed Blast for literally the whole fight. Warriors had to try a little bit due to less effective range and more CDs. Berserker is Berserker.

As much as I would love to use Roar of Glory on my Fire Conjurer (For character lore reasons), I personally do believe these changes were justified. Weapon hybrids and Savant really shouldn’t feel like the successful family members Warrior can’t compare to. Am I saying this solution is perfect? No, but this change does seem to really want to stop the meta without completely gutting the builds and making them borderline useless.

Personally, I don’t like feeling restricted to using hybrid weapons because of the fact they offer more access to moves. What if I wanna use a Sunken Sword? What if I wanna use a regular weapon like the bone cleaver cause it is just that goated?

And Fire conj will get it eventually anyways. Right now Warrior skills (as with most other Rare Skills) range from 220 to 240. Why should hybrids have those skills rn? The 220 skills are also 9 levels away btw.

I feel like most hybrids are forgetting the sheer amount of Weapon skills added for FR and how they can use 99% of those skills, as well as the skills releasing in Dragons as well. Like do we just not appreciate those skills?

And yeah why th would u only want to use hybrid-only weapons? I like being able to have a fighting style and use Claws + 2 niche weapons that Warriors wouldn’t use because all 3 of their slots need to be versatile.

From an elementary perspective half the Warlords we see in fiction aren’t people with big weapons they’re just people who use their hands and use their weapons. Like hell how many people do you think want to embody the Maki/Toji power fantasy instead of “comically large sword” fantasy?

I just want to use the Arcanium Greataxe mainly. I’ll still have my Sunken Sword and Stormcaller, and the Sunken Sword is too good to not use just like the Bone Cleaver. They’re just good weapons and they don’t require a second stat investment like hybrid weapons.

Personally not very fond on claws. They always felt awkward for me to use. I do love dual swords though, and sword dance is especially fun to use.

Well, the Primal Swipe projectile is big and quick, but the range is mediocre, which isn’t a bad thing, since the whole weapon is close-ranged. You also have Beast Instinct - an aoe with almost i-frames, barely any skills can reach that. Ravage may be a complete waste due to its uselessness, but Savage Thrash is an excellent lunge + area control. Add Spiralling Fury onto that - and you got a close-ranged, evasion-focused weapon - a niche category that still may find use. They can feel awkward due to the majority of their skills being unique to them, they only share Spiralling Fury. Just get used to the thing, it ain’t that hard
