Given the current economically crisis occurring(ingame), I wanted the forums thoughts on the idea of spells/techniques scrolls being permanent. Obviously with some changes like making the scrolls exponentially rarer would be needed to compensate(the market and whatnot). It was something I always thought would be beneficial but as someone who never uses the auction, I understand I am probably overlooking a lot. Still, do y’all think it would work?
I think the real problem with them is the means of obtaining them, which is… sheer RNG with no strings attached. Mind you, these scrolls are the foundation of all abilities for magic and strength.
At least relics are bound to specific NPCs and not just randomly found in a random chest with no significance or indicator.
honestly, to make it fun it would be nice having a “spellbook” as a tab in magic, player info. once bringing it up, it would show a list of spells you have unlocked (by using the scroll) and when selecting them, then confirming, you learn them again. same with lost techniques, but i can see how this might drive up the price of things and make some players mad lol
Honestly just a way to get them ever so slightly easier would be nice already. And also a way to narrow the loot pool to the ones you want too.
The issue with spell scrolls is that core abilities of mages are tied to pure RNG, where your only option is to open a massive amount of chests (and sealed chests) and pray that you get one of the good ones when you finally get one. And since they’re so rare, you can’t even experiment around without risking quite a lot in it.
Want to try out the Array spell? Well, you better be sure of it because you’re not getting a new one for a while. What do you mean you tried it on your first magic but realized it would work better on the 2nd? Not my problem!
This is also a problem that affects spells and techniques specifically, because weapons stay even when you fuck around with them, while spells and techniques don’t.
