Anyway kind of tying this to my earlier reply, I have been seeing more creators out there actually speak out against bigotry in their spaces, but the caveat is that it’s all smaller ones, hovering around 50-ish CCV while the big creators who have more leverage for this kind of shit sit at over 1K viewers every stream. You’ll probably end up seeing the same massive creators doing the whole “Ignore reality like doing so won’t bite us in the ass in a few years,” and almost never see the smaller ones who don’t act like everything’s peachy.
There was an awards show set up by Black creators in the specific sphere I’m talking about for other Black creators, which is needed especially now since racism within the scene is on the rise. When the people who set it up got harassed (from common racist rhetoric in replies to putting the promo image through A.I. to whitewash the people on it), a bunch of smaller creators spoke out in support of the show hosts. As for the larger creators, whose voices could make a far bigger impact?
…Matey, the locusts that provide the summer ambiance at home are louder than them. I know, they aren’t contractually obligated to do something about it, but you’d figure that since content creation is their job, on top of typically being in other marginalized groups (typically queer groups), they’d want to keep the scene from becoming a war apparatus for bigots.
