Questions on magics

Ok, nobody has answered me on discord when I posted these questions multiple times, so I’m gonna make a topic to look for answers.

  • First question:
    Is phoenix still a lost magic, or has it been deleted?

I noticed that phoenix magic has disappeared from the wiki.

Is it no longer canon?

  • Second question:
    Have we been told how the whole upgrade-your-magic system is gonna work?

Not the part about requirements and Hecate shards and stuff, but about how the magics are gonna fill the slots, ecc.

I remember hearing something along the lines of your first magic will always stay the same, while it’s “evolution?” will fill your second and so forth slots.
But magic builds are able to choose a second magic, so how is that gonna work?
Has it been cleared up?
If not because it’s still a far away concept it’s fine to just say so.

Vetex has changed how it works several times so even I don’t know by now

its theos magic so its very unlikely it would get ever removed, its not cracked enough to be an ancient either so probably still a lost (unless the immortality all healing things is normal instead of a feat theos got after intensive training)

dont think we (or big v even) got a solid plan for it yet, all we know is base magic + hecate shard → lost magic and presumably the same process for turning lost into ancient. im pretty sure the first magic cant mutate/evolve is scrapped and your mutation will just replace the original one

Based on the last mention vetex had of it,

Choices of lost magic are based on 1st magic, and then replaces 1st magic.
Original 1st magic replaces either your 2nd or 3rd one.

Apparently ancient magic will go into 2nd or 3rd slot. Could be similar for 2nd lost

That’s how I remember it was explained time ago too.
But magic builds are able to choose another base magic with their awakenings, so where do those go?
That’s the part that confuses me.

The base magic originally in the chosen slot gets replaced by the first magic when gaining a lost magic.
Might be similar for ancient/2nd lost

Some forumers threw hissy fits seeing it and demanded it removed

But when I say that having a system punish you through the entire game for a bad decision you made due to lack of experience, unless you go through a tedious process to undo it, I’m made out to be literal Satan.
Like, why can’t we have a universal mutation item?

Back when the page was added, we realized shortly after that it was confusing for the Magic navigator to have all this stuff that’s not in the game. If the page was deleted, it’s because of overreaction, and as the author of many of those pages I appologize for the confusion. It is indeed still a magic planned to be added.

Given that it’s Theos’ whole gimmick, it’ll probably get removed by the time the universe dies of heat death.

The wiki’s super unreliable. For a while, Cataclysm was considered an Ancient Magic, and there’s some common misconceptions such as Argos using a “Brute Strength” imbuement in his fight thanks to the wiki.

  • If you use a Hecate Shard to get a mutation of your First Magic, then you can put that mutation in any of the three slots.
    • If it’s the first slot, you’ll move your original First Magic to another slot, replacing what was there before.
    • If it’s the second or third slots, the mutation will override the slot it takes up.

Luckily magic sensing is worded very much to sound like you’ll be able to scan for hecate essence really easily.
(Boosted in the dark sea + can sense dark sea structures)

wowww so if im a water user and i want to mutate it to lunar the game will force me to stay water and ruining my synergy!! so i can apply soaked twice!!! such a great move of our lord vetex games

and this only affects mage, the magic class :broken_heart:

  1. Yes of course it is, most of the magics you saw in AA will be in AO (includes curses, but not all of them, ex: darkflame), lost/ancient magics usually dissapear from the wiki for the simple fact that they aren’t in game yet (with the exception of poison lightning).

  2. Your magic stays the same is lore wise, mutating a magic is just a way of learning one. In game, it’s most possible that you’ll replace the magic you’re mutating into the mutation. Eitherway, the process is still to be decided because it’s all just concepts, and we are far away from getting them (level 300 for lost magic and level 450 for ancient magics)

1: yes phoenix is still canon and will never be removed, one of the strongest people in the verse literally uses it, also dont use wiki for sources like this they are unofficial and are mostly filled with lies

2: basically, to upgrade to a lost magic you need to find a “hecate shard” these can be obtained from either dark sea runs or fort raids (unsure on this) and in order to get ancient magic you need to find an “ancient magic scroll” which lets you learn the magic BUT, to get each move you need to find the scroll for the spell, example Electron Magic Blast Scroll will only unlock the electron magic blast move lost/ancient magics will fill the magic slot bar like it would fill a regular magic.

also idk where your getting that were gonna have 4 magics, we can only have 3..
