every single time i go onto a server, without fail im am ganked. These rats claim to be pvpers, yet only attack those who cannot fight back
it is not fun to gank or be ganked for either party if a person is either afk or nearly defenseless.
even if the target can defend themselves, they use underhanded tactics such as wiping 2/3 of your health before the fight can actaully start and loading up on potions and meals
the amount of blank kills you have is not a flex, neither is your bounty
the only way to truly be a pvper is to actaully FIGHT players, not him them relentlessly while theyre down
it sickens me groups in the tens to hundreds exist for this soke purpose

Tbh I havent seen many gankers, but that might be because I am so pvp hungry I send out messages each time I join a server asking to 1v1. Though 90% of gankers are vermin since they just enable friendly fire and make their ally get both the health packet and galleons they drop, with only a few simply cutting losses, and even fewer leaving noobs alone in the crossfire.
If you had a clan or high renown, then shame on you.
If you didn’t, then the guys you were talking about most likely didn’t live to the end of the day before getting ganked themselves, cuz competitive ones would not waste their time on you.
You got sniped in the crossfire as a heal pack.
Solution:
Leave your clan ingame. You can still continue communicating with them outside of the game and you will do them a favor by stopping wasting their infamy.
Reset your renown at the Silverhold. Neutral players cannot be hunted.
Get some help from you friend and farm a couple hundreds of kills. Having 2-3x more kills than your total playtime would be enough. You are less likely to be targeted with that many kills and no rewards for doing so.
Never sit straight in the middle of someone’s gank/clan war. Even if you are not their target, you can accidentaly be taken for enemy or be used as a heal pack. I see a lot of such situations nowadays.
Bolder than this is only being afk in Deepwoken.
This is the point. You can spend an eternity fighting in Elysium, but then you descend down to the sea and get absolutely demolished by these people and their shitton of battle experience and unholy builds. If you don’t want this to happen, then you must gank too.
Active pvper here, I agree with the post above. I do have standards, like not hunting leveling players or not ruining cargo runs, but if you’re a nice target (pref. with player kills that match my own) I’ll gank you. I always give back the galleons.
Also, never go afk. That’s like rule #1 of arcane odyssey, you’ll get hunted.
My recommendation? Fight back or learn to, even if you don’t actively engage in PVP it’s better to at least try. You can run later but at least put up a fight. Who knows? You might take them by surprise and get the win.
I learnt from a LB player so I guess there’s that, but it’s all about having fun with it too. Don’t be a sweat.
Extra: You don’t need a super fancy build like 6767 power and 69k defense. Sometimes it’s all about skills. Sure, it’s more pleasing to see a beam hit for say, 400, but if you’re good you can make anything work
i understand what you mean fully, after hopping back on ao like a week ago to see if it was still a barren wasteland (that it was) i went afk and got hunted with literally only 16k bounty
i’m not fully sure why @TheManWithTheFlannel thinks I’d respond to this with cry about it, as I LITERALLY only fight (or in this cause fought) players with high kill counts or chose 2v1s, 3v1s, and 4v1s (yes im deadass) when I knew i’d be fighting PvE players
I mean honestly if you have high renown and care about the upcoming renown shop for full release then you’ve got two perfectly viable options.
Option 1: Wait until full release and spend your renown then.
Option 2: Wipe your renown to play AO normally again, and just grind for renown with whatever new systems are added in full release.
Option 3: Refuse to do either and complain that people are hunting you when you have high renown in current AO.
