Can I just say
don’t use modified chestplates, they’re less efficient than unmodified because modifiers don’t scale with chestplates’ increased stats
modified is better than having an unmodified, the scaling doesnt matter

It does; by unmodified I don’t mean just not having a modifier on a piece that can have one, I mean you should using a piece that cannot be modified, as sunkens have (typically) slightly lower stat totals than modded arc, but since arc has 20 EP that doesn’t scale for chesplates, sunkens are slightly better on chestplates (+ you can apply insanity on this piece)
main reason is most likely because most people arent rich enough to buy sunken stuff and modified gear generally isnt as hard to get while being more versatile in its options even if the stats are slightly less than sunkens
difference is, cheapest sunken goes for around 100k whereas the most expensive a modified piece can be is around 40-50k (and thats for like a blasted arcmancer piece)
as for other pieces like carina set and cernyx set, there are other options (modified shadow arcmancer is slightly better than carina set, modified pirate lord is slightly better than cernyx set)

I usually just pick whatever’s best and grind my way to getting all the pieces, the times when I make a budget build (I made one a few days ago) I use pieces that I have spare or somewhat cheap and adapt it to a build
I did use a modified sunken iron chestplate in that build, however; it’s worth it
Carina and cernyx are bad

Light arc is good, and agate, armored, and frozen are all efficient sources of defense (especially agate) yet SW is still better (especially since you can apply atlantean to it)
