Dredging

Dredging is a feature that will make dark sea sailing more engaging while sailing while also providing a challenge with rewards.

Basics

From sealed chests you will be able to obtain a dredging crane attachment. While sailing through the seas some areas will have an effect, similar but different to diving spots. Near them you can activate the dredging crane and start the dredging process. After you are finished dredging, the crane will bring up some sealed chests and normal chests. In the dark sea however, while you are dredging, atlanteans may wake up from the ocean depths and board your ship and try to break the peace disturber(dredging crane).

Activating the dredging crane will involve you aiming it similar to a siege weapon.

Dredging cranes can also be used for grabbing chests from underwater structures, altrough using it this way will be slower than just going down yourself, keeping the main use for dredging spots.

Enchants

Dredging cranes will have the following enchant effects:
Power: increases amount of chests it can grab in underwater structures at once.
Hard: increases HP of the crane allowing it to tank more hits before it snaps from atlanteans.
Amplified: Increases possible depth of the crane
Swift: increases speed of lowering and hightening the crane
Bursting: increases the size of the crane(if you miss the dredging spot you dig up sand and waste time)

would you mind building some parts of this suggestion, like the dredging arm and some dredging points?

Cool suggestion, may be too OP depending on how efficient it is. Although, I think It would be a cool feature if there was a chance to fish up a hidden boss, like a kraken or megalodon or whatever.

ok top G

Interesting enough idea

i really like this idea, it’s a creative way to repurpose something akin to diving spots but for the dark sea (which is currently feeling a bit dry)
on top of this, it might imply less… infinite depths of the ocean until you finally reach the floor to get stamina back. so im definitely on board for seeing something like this
finally, i think more attachments are definitely welcome as the more variety we get, the more there’s an opportunity cost for using one or the other. this could lead into the current ones being buffed to become a bit more useful.

While this is a pretty alright suggestion, as far as suggestions go (there have been some god awful ones), there is one issue I see with this.

How are you going to implement this in a reasonable time? With enough content to keep the kids from crying?

What I mean by this is, think about just how much would need to be built/added for this to function properly. Imagine the wait for the diving points update, but for something that’s even less visible to the people who complain about content.

I think this activity is kinda boring. From what I’m getting, you just aim what is basically a single siege weapon shot on a stationary target (very easy) and wait for free rewards equivalent to sinking a ship. The inclusion of dredging up enemies makes it more engaging but simply spawning an existing enemy and fighting it is pretty detached from the original concept. Although, sinking a ship is pretty easy and just like this proposed dredging idea there is a chance for very difficult enemies to appear (m1 combos when im lagging), so if it isn’t good at least it isn’t any worse than what is currently in the game.

After thinking about this a bit, I can see it being kinda fun if dredging spots were rare things you could find in the Dark Sea (if there were any in the bronze sea there would be no risk to what is basically a free reward). The activity is boring, but it could work as a reward to doing something risky (being in the dark sea). Or maybe dredging should be repurposed to something that gives fish or ingredients for potions or food. I would prefer this.

You’re absolutely right, we should be able to Dredge up an Alpha White Eyes/Obulus or any new abyssal sea monster :speaking_head:
