First and foremost, this is, in no way, a balance suggestion.
Explanation:
Ever since the magics were first created way back when in WoM, a shockingly large number of them have instantly despawned on contact with any water.
This was not a problem back in WoM because everything happened on land and around land.
This is a massive problem in AO, given that a large part of the content happens on, around and, even under water.
This suggestion is to fix that problem.
The Solutions:
1: Fire, explosion, plasma, and similar energy heat magics become steam magic projectiles when they hit water or are casted underwater.
2: Magma magic becomes earth magic when casted underwater but becomes an obsidian platform when hitting the surface of water.
3: Sand is now completely unaffected by water. (why was this even a problem for sand???)
4: Ice magic becomes ice platforms when it hits the surface of water or continues to be ice magic when used underwater.
5: Lightning magic explodes when it hits the surface of water but is unaffected when casted underwater.
There might be a few magics I missed here but I’m sure everybody gets the idea.
Why change lightning? It works perfectly fine underwater, and I’m 90% sure is actually slightly better when underwater.
Other than that, yes absolutely.
It could become either an ice projectile underwater or a water projectile underwater depending on if you think the snow would melt or freeze the water around it.
i think you can just disregard the lightning part, this suggestion was about making magics that can’t used underwater currently able to be used underwater, lightning was just a misunderstanding
Disregard grunts rambling these are much needed changes to cater to goobers who picked heat based magic in an ocean based game
Lightning changes aren’t necessary, plus the current 1.25x(?) aoe boost is barely noticeable considering it’s tied with light for having the lowest size
oh so you’re just another troll jumping into suggestions to throw in a bunch of 1 stars after spouting some random bullshit?
got it, that’s the second time that’s happened recently.
