T - jumps

So… I was just reading this post on T-jumps and it got me thinking, has anyone done a poll yet? Apologies if a poll has been done on this matter before (I can’t find it) but if not, let’s hold a poll I guess…

  • Yes - T jumps should be removed from the game.
  • No - T jumps should stay in game.
  • T jumps doesn’t need to be removed just disabled during combat, like agility. (My ideal preference)

Feel free to argue your cases below.

Edit: Wow, I was not expecting such a landslide. I mean only 50 people isn’t enough for a proper poll really but 80% voting for no? Sheesh. I personally thought giving t jumps the agility treatment by disabling it only during combat so it is still usable for exploration would get more votes but only 2 people?? And one of them is literally me.

Feel that “T-jumps should be nerfed” might be the better option.

imo exploration and gameplay without t-jumps may seem interesting and fun now, but it’ll get really annoying and irritating after a while

The main issue with removing t-jump is that you have to account for some classes getting abilities similar in function earlier than others. Effectively this would put certain builds at a mobility deficit compared to others

anyone who thinks T jumps should be removed dont realize that majority of projectile moves just fucking explode when you use them since they are so fat that they hit the ground the moment you cast it forcing you to T jump to actually have a chance of hitting it

Exploration is the reason why I gave the option to have t jumps disabled only during combat

well true but at the same time, I prefer aerial combat to grounded

i was arguing like half the community just switched and wanted t-jumps to be gone, thankfully, people have common sense.

but fr tho, after thinking about it for some time, why not slightly increase the stamina use, decrease the height, increase the startup, or reduce the scaling? It’ll punish players who previously relied on it and the change could better emphasize leaps, lunges, etc. Why resort to removing a core feature of this game and its prequels? I pray people realize they have to put more thought into ideas like this, please think about the benefits and implications. I don’t want newgens calling me entitled when I give them a reason why their suggestion is trash.

no t jump makes exploring way cooler, but its way too late to even consider removing it since the whole combat system is based off of that

I couldnt imagine playing ao without T jumps honestly

t-jump both ruins combat and appreciation for the game

im pretty sure one of the builders told me that instead of people using the path to climb up one of the islands they made, people just tjumped to the top

t-jump is an old feature that honestly i wouldn’t mind being removed, leaps i wouldn’t mind either but i feel they should be replaced with some other type of mobility

This is what happens when you design islands and combat around a flawed, old and outdated mechanic for the sake of it, and for that reason, AO’s exploration and combat will forever be crippled by it unless Vetex actually mans up and takes the time and effort to rework the game without T-jumps

duality of man

mfs will be saying this and then complain when an update takes 5 months because of them changing core systems

It’s rare for someone who doesn’t mind delayed updates or complains that they’re taking too long to contradict themselves

I myself literally do not care about how long an update or game or really, any work takes to come out even if I’m dead by the time it drops. If anything, AO needs more updates with more time (and effort) put into them. 1-2 updates a year is good enough.

too late i already got used to T jump

T jump too much fun to remove

I feel it weird some people suggest making several mechanics unusable in PvP… Like… Why?

Why do we suddenly get weaker when PvPing? Why do we suddenly lose over a half of our regeneration effeciency when fightin shouldn’t we have it increased because of the adrenaline basically? (Yes I know it doesn’t work like that, but its a magic game)

And then people suggest making T-Jumps be unusable in PvP, like bro how is that even supposed to work :wilted_flower:

At this point they will forbid us to use spells in combat because…

especially when it is not your first file and you are just trying to get to a place that would be much quicker to jump to

What if the builders baited people onto the path with a trail of fake chests :innocent:

When i do find the path, i usually take a look on it and walk along it to give it a good look and then go “Oh that’s the intended path”

and then i go along with my day

Just make normal jump like 3-5 times higher and we’re cool
