actually digging into it, the UK is an umbrella term to describe scotland, england, wales, and northern ireland.
basically it describes the landmass all these places are on

so the UK isn’t an interchangeable term for britain or any of the others
but the UK consists of said countries
so saying “britain is part of the UK” is technically correct
