Ok so I just realized, instead of renaming classes to something specific and boring that describes them perfectly, why don’t we just keep the cool names and have the game describe what they do when it’s needed in a natural way? Like this:
Morden: Apparently, our next enemy is going to be a paladin
Neviro: A paladin huh? A paladin’s control over spirit energy and magic energy can be quite frightening. We have to be careful

But then there would be a lot of overlap between common terms and class names.
“Warlord”, describes someone who has economic and political control over a small region.
“Knight” would be a general term to describe a soldier serving royalty, and I think it’s very valid that the names need changing.

yeah I never said the names should stay the same, maybe I worded myself badly. But to be fair, there is a handful of words in the english dictionary with multiple meanings, and in-game vetex can just use colored words to show what is being talked about

Spirit Mages, Spirit Brutes, and Spirit Warriors are your Vit Hybrids and stuff like that it’s not hard

the only name change that actually was logical was berserker to fighter, it just makes more sense. berserker ngl gives me more of the vibes that warlord does
when I think “berserker” I think somebody who is pushing their physical limits to do whatever the fuck they want, typically while being incredibly angry (said anger usually being a big part of them pushing their limits)

I should note that I wasnt even on discord when this happened, I read the entire thing after the fact. People are attached to their class, its part of their identity and this community likes making OC’s all the time, the backlash feels perfectly natural

vetex or tech shoud’ve made it clear this was open to change from the start, and if this is the case idk why vetex said he wasnt backtracking on the names, this might be damage control. But tech is like the little angel on vetex’s left shoulder keeping AO on track so im more prone to believing him
