The Dark Sea Update [Feedback Post]

Use a ledge it’s not very hard to remove poisoning

In terms of builds, Its going to be a nightmare, I saw a metal man doing 900 damage in a single Blast

My light friend has a blast with 660 damage (LIGHT, I repeat)

Not responding to anything in the post, but I want to ask a question.

Why are there currently so many warrior only (weapons level 200-230) weapons in the dark sea? Wasn’t the loot here supposed to be balanced to level 125?

Im about to do a 198 power 400 defence insanity 3 build lmao

holy shit we can get 200 power :eyes: new pulsar meta

Yeah not sure if it’s a bad thing bad damn in the past 2 updates the meat changed fast asf
the fact that we can get better stats than sunken gear is kinda crazy

Dark Sea should REALLY be an instanced server to prevent it from lagging out the rest of the game

“ Are the rewards sufficient for what the Dark Sea is?”

I think so, however I also feel the drop rates of dark sea exclusive things should be adjusted. I’d much rather have a 5% chance of getting a scroll in my chest if it was confirmed to be one of the new ones, rather than opening like 80 chests and getting a bunch of luring and sturdy. Half the time it feels like you get scammed, and using luck brew barely helps (for me at least, I’ve tried t3 and t5)

I get that these things are supposed to be rare but it feels soooooooooo bad when you spend 2 hours grinding for roughly the same loot you could have gotten in the Bronze Sea (discounting atlantean drops and ingredients)

my ships just bugged and i cant do anything, great job you incompetent testers

Discord the current state of mage

this, If im going into the dark sea for its exclusive loot, why am I getting the old stuff? It makes grinding for gear absurdly hard, as now every file I use needs 5 rare scrolls, and there’s like 20 scrolls in this chest and most are just objectively worse

  • Do you think the Dark Sea Update has improved diversity in terms of builds?

No opinion on this, but there are a lot of cool additions that i feel this game heavily benefits from.

  • Do you think the Dark Sea Update has made min-maxing mandatory given the balance changes to items?

Previously the main appeal of minmaxing was that there was nothing else to do, with the Dark Sea out now, this hole is patched for a while again. But im not sure if the grind in the dark sea is better or worse than Boss Gear grinding in terms of time investment yet.
Its definitely a whole lot more fun though (incase you dont suffer from roblox server problems because youre forced to invest 1-2 hours a piece for each expi, we really need a solution for this. And it might also help with cargo run disconnects)

  • Do you think the Dark Sea Update’s jewels and the balance changes related to them have improved the mechanic itself and the interest in it?

While its interesting having much more powerful jewels, an initial gripe i had with the system when it came out… and a gripe i still have is. This is only useful to invest in now. When we’re at a level cap of 500 the stats are barely even gonna be considerable. I always thought the gemcrafting level should be capped at a range relative to the current Max Level. I always felt like these things should be MINOR bonus stats and not a whole 9 agility from just one gem which will only get less and less impactful in the future.
Im not saying they are that powerful, but rather that we shouldnt have received the full potential of this system right from when its implemented.

  • What do you think about the Rough Seas present in the Dark Sea? Do you think they are too obstructive?

They are fine, the other weather effects were a bit too much at first but now its only the rough sea left.

  • What do you think about Rain Poisoning?

Absolutely awful mechanic, if it is planned to be kept, it should only deal Current HP% damage so it will NEVER have a chance to kill you on its own.
And the same goes for the random lightning strikes, its completely unfun to lose your life because you got unlucky while fighting an Atlantean or Siren and getting your entire party stranded because you thought you’d be fine with 30 cargo with barely any hull damage taken. Only having a single revive feels a bit too punishing and imo it should be something thats rather tied to a timer.

  • What do you think about Atlantean enemies?

They are fun to fight, BUT… oh my god are M1 combos annoying, they are absolutely unfun and can semi-stun you and bring you from 1500 to 500 HP in like 2 seconds and you cant even properly run from them because of the semi-stunlock the damage does. Please for the love of god nerf NPC M1 combos

  • What do you think about Sirens? Are they too difficult to find?

They are an absolute blast to fight, there are many of them, but it doesnt feel overwhelming, their attacks do respectable damage, but not too much and are fairly avoidable if youre careful and if you need to be defensive, then you can hide behind the cliffsides so they will have a harder time getting hits on you.

  • What do you think about the Brig? Do you think it’s mandatory to use for the Dark Sea?

This might sound like a really hot take but… I kinda hate the addition of this ship. It feels like something we’re supposed to get at Level 250 but we get it at 125. Its way too big of a jump in terms of performance. The DPS is immensely high with its 12 side-cannons and you can tank like 10 navy ships for like 3 whole minutes probably because of the ridicilious hp. This shouldnt have as significant as it is stats yet.
Its fun having a portable base and its REALLY useful for the dark sea, but it trivializes all other ships which used to have their own niches, like Caravel being the Combat ship, the Ketch being the errand ship that you solely use to get from Point A to point B quickly or Cargo runs, which they now- just dont have at all. Now its just Brig, Brig, and another Brig.
Oh and dont let me get started on the repair cost. Its just easier at this point searching for 10 minutes for crates or a wandering ship and then using those to get your Brig HP

  • Is the Dark Sea too time-consuming? Should the length of the layers be lowered?

Yes and no, the dark sea chests arent too hard to fine- but… Your loot table is cluttered with stuff you can also get from Bronze chests, so if you get unlucky, your entire journey is trivialized.

  • Do islands spawn often enough? Do they present any issues?

They do spawn often enough, the problem is just that alot of the islands have cliffs that are WAY too tall to T jump over without agility gear, leaving you to have to swim around the entirity of the island to get the chest on your boat, orrrrr leave the chest behind completely

  • Are the rewards sufficient for what the Dark Sea is?

Again, yes and no. The rewards are sufficient. But the time to get them currently doesnt justify the effort needed to get it unless youre a minmaxer.

  • Does the rain in the Dark Sea obstruct your view? If so, by how much?

No longer a thing now afaik, but it was alot, i feel like it should only rly be a thing under certain conditions and not something constant, that would be a good way to like hint at other currently active events at your location like elemental rain or whatever

  • Does the fog in the Dark Sea obstruct your view? If so, by how much?

WAY TOO MUCH, i cant tell you the amount of times my brig ended up crashing into an island bringing its topped up hp from full straight down to half, wasting like 5 whole minutes of crate moving

honestly, i kind of agree with you on the brig part. maybe he’ll add more specialized boats down the line which outclass the brig in their specific but then it’s just power creep with boats.

another big gripe i have with it is the fact that it’s twenty thousand whole galleons, which would make sense if its level req. was made higher in further updates, but once nimbus sea (and additional story updates) are out, no one is going to maximize their builds at 125. it’ll be back to the best thing they have on them at the moment, and because of that, no one will have 20k galleons at that time either. by the time they do, there’ll probably be three bigger, faster, and stronger ships that are all WAY more expensive

i’ve heard them 3 times now, only found the rock itself once

  • Do you think the Dark Sea Update has improved diversity in terms of builds?

I don’t know, haven’t gotten a PvP fight since the update unfortunately.

  • Do you think the Dark Sea Update has made min-maxing mandatory given the balance changes to items?

I don’t have a clue on what min-maxing is and I’m getting irritated not knowing what it means.

  • Do you think the Dark Sea Update’s jewels and the balance changes related to them have improved the mechanic itself and the interest in it?

No; it’s just adding more options to a feature already used either because it’s there or because somebody wants to get into PvP.

  • What do you think about the Rough Seas present in the Dark Sea? Do you think they are too obstructive?

They’re not anything I’d waste a picket sign over. I haven’t had a problem caused by them yet.

  • What do you think about Rain Poisoning?

I like the idea, but I wish it’d stop applying in-combat.

  • What do you think about Atlantean enemies?

They act like ordinary enemies. Not sure what I’m supposed to put here. …oh right. Their ships sometimes piss me off because of how they can quickly turn from rare to a Minecraft Mob Spawner.

  • What do you think about Sirens? Are they too difficult to find?

Unlike the Atlanteans, I find fighting them actively interesting (except as a Mage, because it usually ends up being Pulsar and Surge for an easy win). I don’t think they’re hard to find at all, but I feel like there should be a small visual indicator of when you’re near a Siren Rock for players who might have trouble hearing (or in my case purely so I can listen to music while playing the game like before).

  • What do you think about the Brig? Do you think it’s mandatory to use for the Dark Sea?

The Brig is pretty cool, and I like the (albeit small) amount of customization the player is offered. I think it’s mandatory for the Dark Sea, given how Water Poisoning can’t be cured on a Caravel or Ketch.

  • Is the Dark Sea too time-consuming? Should the length of the layers be lowered?

Eeh, the Dark Sea itself isn’t too time-consuming on a trip into it, but on the return trip, it’s comically long. I feel like layers should be shortened a little.

  • Do islands spawn often enough? Do they present any issues?

As of now, they spawn well enough. The only issues I have with islands is how sometimes you have to be a professional mountain climber to get up to their surface, then do that two-three more times for a couple more Dark Sealed Chests.

  • Are the rewards sufficient for what the Dark Sea is?

…I have no idea. Granted, this is only the Bronze Sea’s version of the D.S., but for right now, I’d argue it depends on your stat build. If you’re not a Warrior, the most you can get from the Dark Sea is more enchantment scrolls, maybe some armor sets that’ll help you out, and the Arcanium Bracelets. If you are, though, have fun with the Atlantean and Siren weapons.

  • Does the rain in the Dark Sea obstruct your view? If so, by how much?

Not really, but sometimes it tricks me into believing I’ve found a Mirage Island.

  • Does the fog in the Dark Sea obstruct your view? If so, by how much?

Sometimes, but not too much (unless it’s covering a Shadow Tornado. Those things are really hard to spot before getting my sails torn by them).

Im pretty sure that min-maxing means making your build/playstyle the most “meta” it can be.
