Probably? I mean, I highly doubt a lot of people bothered to get over 2000 catches for a single sunken item (yes I know that this statistic is only with a wooden rod) when macros were somewhat easy to find.
No, the majority of them were duped due to a trading bug that soon turned into an exploit because… (The bug was taken advantage of). From that point forward, rarely anyone fished because of the insane chance percentage and the fact that Vetex took away the ability to macro due to a fishing sequence where the player gets flung back. (idk why)
Sunken loot is supposed to be rare, thus why he made it so you can’t leave your computer on overnight to wake up to a sunken sword in your inventory.
It takes no dedication to leave your computer on at night.
It took him like about a month to get rid of the macro? People say that he was fine with it from what i’ve heard.

I wonder though, why are they a 1 in 4000 chance. Compared to something like the sunken champion set in AA being a 1 in 500 chance. Is it due to the low amount of content? Or simply a way to keep it rarer.

Arcane reborn chance is 1/500, iirc the original AA chances were even worse than current sunken chances.
I’m not entirely sure what prompted vetex to suddenly change his mind on macros. A lot of people (notably most the moderator team) were pretty hard advocates for keeping macroing legal when the fishing update released, so I suspect that he figured banning it was going to make as many people angry as it did happy.
The cynic in me wants to say that after the staff team got their sunkens there was suddenly far less pressure to keep macroing legal, which lead to vetex deciding community consensus was for banning, but idk.

Oh really? Damn I must be lucky to get the sunken champ back then in the original. And the Vetex probably wanted to keep sunken items rare so as not to devalue the item. That could be why the macros are bannable now.
Sadly I actually sat down and fished forever… I didn’t know macros were a thing until I already had sunken sword…
…Well ok, I was kinda wrong anyway since the great majority of the community probably doesnt even know about the discord server and even less about the forum, in which case it’s hard to even hear about macros at all.
I still believe the majority of sunken items on the market were macroed tho.
Sunken champ was like twice as rare as sunnken armor in AR. I remember the chance being like 1/4000 and my brother being real happy when he got a piece. Then again sunken champion was good.

it’s supposed to be rare yet it’s acquirable from the most monotone task in existence
and also yea most of them came from autofishing or people reading something while fishing, no one ever dedicated their time purely to fishing for sunken gear unless they were clinically insane
