Literally how lmao all it would do is crush the Vents of Aeolus
I know itâs a reasonable thing to want gameplay features to work as intended but if heâs going to lose aggro and reset mid fight you do at least get the advantage of sometimes being able to prevent him from losing aggro and resetting when you die just due to how close you respawn.
If the player needs to abuse bugs for a bossfight to be enjoyable, you failed at designing an enjoyable bossfight
Yeah I do agree, but I didnât mean it in the designing aspect. I meant that one of those things almost counteracts the other.
The frequent deaggro isnât part of the design, and nor is the fact that you can respawn before he resets, but both of them are in the game, so you may as well respond to unintentional unfairness with more unintentional unfairness
ive never really felt it didnt fit terraria, maybe its just because it fits so well with calamity that i never thought about how much of a change calamity is compared to vanilla, but either way his songs have stuck with me and are currently some of the very few videogame OSTs i have on my spotify, theyâre extremely memorable and ill never forget the chills i had when i first fought yharon (that may sound cringe but RoTJD is an amazing track, even if the lyrics are a little silly)
Itâs most likely much bigger and more massive in lore
Iâm sure Ivoris would hit the Vents but any other islands that get dragged down with it could hit the ocean
And then youâve got a tsunami on your hands
Clearly youâve never seen Avengers: Age of Ultron
allanon always sucked in my mind because of the story and my gameplay, he literally bugged out twice and let me kill him (i rejoined and tried to fight him not bugged mind you) and the story resulted in what it did
like imo, i HATE the formula of âcool character gets killed off the second you meet themâ and i also hate skyhall as a whole; its a whole nothingburger of a chapter with useless characters joining us for no reason. so forgettable i dont even remember the light magic users name but i remember his reason for joining us being âits what allanon wouldve wantedâ but like?? ok go ahead and die next chapter or whatever
royal guard member said âoh my bestie wouldve probably wanted to go with you guysâ and has to be in the same confrontation against curse users as a lacking/incompetent light magic user. like holy crap i HATE skyhall why did they fumble it so unbelievably hard
fuck allonon
huge ass attacks and vfx so your forced to sense the entire fight
3k damage grab
awful terrain to fight on cause the ground has fucking layers on it and some of this shit doesnât break
boss breaks and rubberbands constantly (makes the fight easier since he sticks to one spot more)
you have less hp than normal when doing the fight for the first time cause of the injury
insta start up ray that deletes you cause he got u on endlag because you tried to play the game differently instead of blast/range spamming his ass
fighting allanon feels I forgot my glasses, being on psychedelic drugs, upsidedown, having a heart attack, all at the same time.
When allanon first got the fire wings scene, I wanted to laugh because it was so abstract
Imma be honest, I havenât fought him since release, butâŚ
Personally phase 1 took me like 5 tries and was hell because the place was tiny.
Phase 2 I did it first try without that much trouble, albeit slow and kinda boring to spam blasts at a distance.
I donât get why people complain so much about phase 2. Do his attacks even change? I thought it was only the arena; and phase 2 has a much bigger one so more room to stay far.
:(
His story is interesting, his boss battle can go into the very hell flames he creates.
When was the last time weâve had notable story music apart from Elius and Calvus (and Argos though I donât remember it much)
literally the only good one I will always remember is the one when you open the game. Chefâs kiss.
Story wise, he was pretty neat. I donât like that his spiral into madness happened so suddenly but if that issue gets resolved heâs a pretty compelling character who could even make a return in future chapters
When it comes to gameplay design though he is easily a bottom 2 or 3 boss. His phase 1 is already a disaster with the entire gameplay being spam blast and beam or any equivalent then praying that he doesnât move out of the way conveniently as whatever youâre throwing at him is about to hit. None of his attacks are actually difficult to deal with, itâs just move out whenever he charges at you and dash if you see any kind of damage number pop up on your screen. His hitbox is also frustratingly difficult to find because of the entire fightâs gimmick being super far range.
Even worse, phase 2 is the exact same fucking fight. At least Ivarâs awful phase 1 is followed by a pretty phenomenal phase 2. Allanon doesnât even have that excuse, his phase 2 is the exact same awful fight as before with more hp.
And donât even get me started on the ai oh my god bruh, this fight gets cheesed by majority of people on complete accident to the point where it may as well just be the intended way to beat the boss
One of the better-written characters in the game, just wish his whole death spiral thing wasnât in the span of three days.
Gameplay-wise, I actually like his fight, though his arena is a bit too big, and his highest flying point is way too high. I feel like if he couldnât fly nearly as high (and obviously had less particle spam, but thatâs a problem with AO in general), heâd be a better fight for non-Mage players.
I had a lot of trouble with him my first time playing but after I went back to refight him I found out heâs yet another one of those bosses that gets folded by the good old range cheese
setting beam to 20%/20% settings dramatically increases its range and since Flying enemies like to sit in one spot and move in bursts having a long range hitscan makes it mad easy to just nail him from a safe distance over and over
I thought it only increased damage. I will be using this from now on (if I learn how to actually aim)
