So whenever you press “G” to execute the “Brace” action while sailing your crew “Braces for impact,” but does it do anything?
Does it lower the potential DMG you get from waves, sea monsters, or other ships, or is it purely miscellaneous? I haven’t been able to find out from trying it out, so I’m looking for an answer here.
all damage is reduced by a good percent when bracing
wait does it reduce damage to your ship entirely or only the crew

It’s basically the block button but for your ship, it was added during the dark sea update so the constant damage from waves whirlpools and rough sea would be manageable
(Of course high stability brigs and weather resistant deckhand artifacts it’s already manageable, but bracing is a really useful feature to have)
Blocks cannonfire too?

The brace button:
as far as i know it only affects waves. im not 100% sure about other hazards, but no effect on cannonballs or anything relevant in ship fights
