20 other methods was hyperbole, but allow me to bring brig into the picture. if i can go fast enough to evade their assault (which i most likely can) i can dock my brig and away i go

Renown doesn’t do shit unless you’re in a faction, and even if you are, even leaderboard ranks only let you save a pretty pathetic amount of money
Infamy does do a bit more, but it only lets you put in the money you had beforehand without letting you take it back, and if you don’t want to spend your money, you still have to spend some to build a farm

Used for diving? Nope, get hit once by the 19373971037 invisble sea urchins and your speed is gone

Completely so.
Ever since the addition of abyssal underwater structure, I’ve been primarily using breathing capacity jewels paired with a few others that have swimming speed&attack destruction increases in order to complete abyssal structures. Now since abyssal underwater structures are objectively superior to their regular counterpart, there practically is no reason to make use of swimming speed at all.
At best you could use them for the sake of stealth by going from island to island without revealing your location with your ship, but that is an extremely obscure niche.

no clue, prob just grindy, but having combat tag on swim speed icludes sharks which means its near useless for sea charts
