Two things:
-New mechanic called saturation, also charging now doesnt restore ur energy bar anymore but you can still use it to clear any status effects
-Saturation proects ur hp before (it breaks?) . You can say now tankier builds have more chances to survive
Unfortunately this sneak isn’t new lol.
For some reason the AO youtube channel has been re-releasing old sneaks for a good bit now.
nevermind actually this one is new I was thinking of the UI changes lol.
not a fan of this. yea the current hunger system is useless (at best it functions as an anti afk meter) but this change will force you to eat food 24/7 or mid fight and require more grinding
and yea, at the moment you have to shift regen mid fight to restore your energy, but at least its free
and saturation is gonna suck, itll incentivize eating huge foods to give a giant advantage over other players who dont
i hate this, this sounds so damn stupid, when i saw the tweet i thought they were joking at first
i think that system is good, because having more energy is worth it so you have to charge less, also getting energy regen is worth it, and in a fight you have to be skillfull to choose the right time to charge.
it’s a good system that has been working, and now after all this time they change it so drastically.
yes youre right, it is a skill to know when to stop mid fight to recharge your energy
i think it’s bad enough, but losing your energy over time is the last straw for me.
also now for optimal play you have to be precise and get your maximum saturation because that extra health will be a massive thing.
that’s gonna be so annoying.
ok i watched the video, this mf really just ate something that gave him over 3k energy and that’s probably not even close to the max you can get with good food.
now early game is gonna be REALLY annoying because you just don’t have as good of food. and then at higher levels you are FORCED to max out your cooking because otherwise you will have to keep eating meanwhile other people basically have infinite energy and massive amounts of extra health.
this might genuinly stop me from playing full release, everything else was looking so damn peak
imagine youre pvp sparring with someone for hours, imagine all the food you have to eat. just unnecessary, idk why a lot of people in the comments are praising this change
i really can’t believe that the devs saw many people complaining about having to eat food and then they DOUBLED down, making food and being proficient in cooking a complete requirement basically.
I mean to be fair with the recent change it’s literally so easy to max out your cooking you can just cook like 100 meals at once so getting perfect cooking is no issue
We’re turning off pvp with this one

here’s my thoughts on the change:
the main reason that i complained about hunger was that there wasn’t any point to it. hunger works as practically an anti-afk meter at endgame, and serves zero purpose, and is genuinely anti-immersive since you have to stop whatever you’re doing to pull out your backpack and eat a banana. in other games, like deepwoken for instance, hunger is directly tied to health regen, no hunger means you don’t get any health (and also die).
the thing that’s different about that system in particular is that in deepwoken, hunger is a resource, and not a timer to your death, and that’s what i like about the new hunger system. since it’s merged with energy, now hunger is a resource that’s an actual part of playing the game, and feeling the effect of eating something is much more tangible. additionally, it actually encourages interaction with the cooking mechanic, since you can no longer sustain yourself by just spamclicking on raw ingredients
there are some negative effects of the new system, tho, which are totally justified to have a negative reaction to. saturation seriously puts the defender at a disadvantage in a 1 on 1 overworld pvp scenario, considering the defender is likely not to be as prepared for a fight as an attacker. additionally, it removes the element of charging from the game’s combat and magic energy as a short-term resource, which was definitely a huge aspect of it
idk how i feel about this change as a whole, and to be honest, i doubt im gonna comment on it much more until i get to actually see it ingame, since that’s the only way to really know whether or not the issues i see with it are valid or not. whatever the case may be, i don’t think it’ll be as bad as you think, and i have enough trust in vetex as a game designer to not ruin his entire game with one change
classic theoretical L
well seems like this change won’t be reverted, gonna be fun seeing all the people returning for full release who haven’t been actively following the development of it and then being annoyed by the new change or even outright confused because it’s such a weird and dumb system
The anti afk thing doesn’t even work aswell if you just leave AO running with an auto clicker while holding food
If it was showcased, then testers, including pvp testers, tried out this system and it was playable. I was a bit dissapointed when I first heard about it too, but hey, we never checked it out for ourselves. So why not just wait and judge meal after eating it, not before?
Yet, I don’t really understand, how will we fight in Elysiums now? Since this food alongside energy probably gives you food effects like regen and etc. Not everyone has equal food, so someone may get stronger buffs, while others weaker ones. And you cannot just eat non-meals mid-fight cuz it is ineffective.
