You guys ruined Neko's funni post so Meta told me to move it here >:T

you’re softer that the atmosphere on our moon

Don’t really see how that’s something worthy of note in this case.
The word’s offensive, hence it ought not be used.

cry me a river

Can we not argue

I don’t see how this concerns you in the first place, but I don’t think I’m going to take advice from someone who calls people “soft” for saying that offensive words ought not be used.

don’t think I should take advice from someone who gets offended over 40 bits of data projected onto their monitor

cry me a river big man

Saying “if it’s offensive it ought not be done” is a complete non sequitur because offensiveness is such a personal thing that anything can be offensive to someone.

I don’t get it when people chide others online for getting offended. Is getting offended at something a bad thing?

Furthermore, you try to downplay the reason for my offense by saying that it’s just 40 bits of data projected onto my monitor. I’m sure that I can also downplay other ways of transmitting and receiving information from/to other human beings by understating them.

Being offended means that you have principles and morals. That is all. The people who actually ought to be called out are the overly callous.

I wasn’t even talking to you in my original comment though, so I don’t get why you felt the need to respond.

The word “gypsy” is a derogatory word used to describe Romani peoples and their culture. It’s equivalent to a racial slur, but it’s not deemed as socially reprehensible as other racial slurs because society doesn’t tend to be fair.

This isn’t a personal offense thing.

It doesn’t even matter if it’s a personal offense, anyway. That would be like saying that making suicide jokes are ok because some are offended by it and some are not. It’s just social etiquette to not make comments that are in bad taste like those.

Wait, how did this even get an arguement. I just wanted to share some wierd youtube algorithm recommendation and appreciate how this kid’s vibing without letting people bother him.

makes you look like the biggest fucking loser on the planet especially if you annouce yourself being offended, especially when you use big words and perfect grammar

how about you just mind your own fucking business you brat?

ok and?

the video doesn’t belong to OP in the first place so I don’t get why you felt the need to make your shitty remark

Sorry about that I guess.
If it makes you feel any better, I didn’t mean any offense on your part.

But why does it have to be derogatory? Context matters, the video poster could have just not known of a different word, I’m also pretty sure that those people themselves call themselves gypsies, and have been called by that for ages.
So if it’s used as an archaism to describe them it’s just a word, while if you use it against someone who has some stereotypical traits of them (like in some places where nomads are synonymous with being dirty) then it could be derogatory.

Oh I wasnt offended, was just surprised how the video got someone on an arguement.

wait wut…

ok and? Literally no one cares anymore, word is old as fuck

then kindly shut up because you’re the only one having a problem here

social etiquette my ass, you’re the minority that actually care about useless crap like this on the internet that only inhibit free speech

oh no someone made a dark joke!!! better write an essay on why they are a bad person!!!

this is the internet and not some fucking job application ffs

  1. How else am I supposed to communicate to you that I am offended? I like being direct.
  2. Not even going to talk about that lol
  3. Oh, I’m a brat? Right, right.

The point is that trying to downplay my offense as “getting offended by pixels” is somewhat daft. Those “pixels” are just as good a way of communicating ideas as words or even punches. Don’t see why you had to add that.

To be fair, I could’ve just made my comment on the video and not here. That’s fair enough. I don’t agree with being called a brat for no reason though.

you aren’t, that’s the point

don’t you even dare try to compare a word on a screen you can just click away from to an irl punch

i called you a brat cause I loathe people like you

Words, in my opinion, can become derogatory in and of themselves by extensive use. I imagine that at some point the n-word was not as strong a word as it is now, but due to it being used extensively to demean and derogate, it has become derogatory.

The same goes for this case. I wouldn’t crucify the video poster for posting it, as you said their intent might have not been to offend, but it is a bit insensitive to use a word with such a history.

the word is literally a joke now wtf are you on
