Kinda unnecessary ngl, there really isn’t any need to please the people who complain that all magic feel identical to each other considering a few minutes later, they wouldn’t be bothered by it at all.
All this does is give vetex a headache to manually set requirements for a wide variety of magic, even more hell when lost and ancient magic comes, and all this just to cater to the playerbase lower than those who likes to pvp in this game.
yea with that second paragraph i wasnt really directing it towards you it was mainly just an explanation as to why the magic system works the way it does with the current plans
as for this idea ill keep considering it for the future though cause u guys are right it would make progressing with different magics more interesting, it would just be a real headache to go through every magic and manually set unlock levels. we’ll see though
yea that’s fair I can see that.
It would inevitably lead to balance concerns and frustration where there otherwise would be none, but it would be cool and add that variety a fair few players have been asking for lately in the simplest way I can think of.
I’m glad we cleared up that misunderstanding I thought you had the whole wrong idea about what I was saying lol.
This is quite a neat idea that would make magic progression more varied, but as vetex said, I’m just concerned about the maintenence of a mechanic like this.
Also, how would tier scaling play into this? Would tiers still be standardized across all magics, or would, for example, Explosion magic explosion spells have the highest tier compared to other magics due to being the earliest unlock?
I was thinking about this too, and logically, the answer is yes.
I’m no balancer, though, and I don’t know how that would play out.
I will say, though, of all the suggestions I could have written to solve magics playing too similarly to each other, this is the simplest solution I think I can come up with lol.
(I can’t imagine adding individual stand-out gimmicks for each and every magic lacking one would be even remotely feasible.)
